4. A SCOTRWA initiative : Community Radio - System

The last meetings of the Community RadioCommittee were held on the 7th and 9th October. Themain topic of these two meetings was the Applicationform for the broadcasting license. At the end of thesemeetings it was completely filled up and there just willhave to be attached some things like details about thestructure, past achievements and projects of theorganization (SCOTRWA). But when those formalitieshave been added the form will be ready to be sent. After that it will probably take a few months until thelicense will be approved.

Furthermore a survey (for the application form) isrequired to be conducted among 1000 people indifferent areas in the range of the radiobroadcast. Thequestionnaire referring to that survey is preset by theMinistry of Information and Broadcasting and 1500copies have already been printed.

In a meeting on 12th October the questionnaires havebeen distributed among the committee members andin the following days more questionnaires have beenbrought to different Residencies for giving them to thetenants. The dropbox for the filled up questionnaires isplaced in the SCOTRWA-office in Balaji Residency.Anyone who is interested in distributing some of thequestionnaires is very welcome to come there andcollect..

The results of that survey do not have to be attacheddirectly to the form, but can be sent separately later. But, however, it should be sent as soon as possible.

Furthermore it was decided that in the beginning thelocation of the radio will be the SCOTRWA-office inBalaji Residency.

Moreover, the costs of the equipment (includinginstalling the tower) will be less than 10 Lakhs and theyearly expenditure for maintenance will probably beone Lakh 20 000 Rupies.

Still open is the question about the name of the radio.

The next meeting will be held on 29th October at 7pm.

As reported by Ms. Naëmi Fuhrmann, volunteer.Acknoledgement :The SCOTRWA group appreciate the voluntary workextended for establishing Community Radio stationin Tarnaka for the last one month.
