IntroductionMy native place is Tarikere it is a talluk in Chikmagalore District in the state of Karnataka It is one of the major tourist place in ore district it is the gate way for ldquoMalenadurdquo it is famous for areca nut plantations The people here are very good It is the place which includes beautiful hills forest lakes falls and many more things which makes me to proud that my native is Tarikere

Brief history

The word Tarikere is derived form the word ldquo Tari rdquo and ldquo Kere ldquo ldquoTarirdquo means ldquopaddyrdquo and ldquokererdquo means ldquoLarge water tanksrdquo It is surrounded by number of large water tanks namely Chikkere Doddakere Dalavikere Ramanayakakere kenndaralla etc

My native place Tarikere had been ruled by many kings in that kings Sarjahanumantha naika is very important king because all Tarikerean believes that he was the builder of Tarikere

You can reach my native by road and trainBy Road- Tarikere can be reached by a road National

Highway 206 ( Bangalore to Honnavara ) passes through Tarikere town

By Train- Tarikere lies on the Bangalore - Shimoga railway

station line and there are trains from Mysroe and Bangalore which stops at Tarikere on the way to Shimoga
