The following statistics are the Top 10 movies from this Weekends Box Office Results (October 30th-1st 2015)

From this weekend’s results there are 3 Horror movies in the Top 10, these are Goosebumps, which has grossed a massive $9,867,077. Also Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, which has a gross of $3,435,120 and finally Crimsons Peak, which has a gross of $3,072,100. Because there is 3 horror movies within the Top 10 suggests that they are very popular at this moment.

This table shows the popularity of the majority of the horror subgenres. According to this table Horror-Supernatural is the most common, with a gross of $293.5. This subgenre usually Ghosts, demons or other depictions of supernatural occurrences. The second most popular subgenre is Horror-Terror in the Water, which has a gross of $260.0, and the most popular film in that genre was Jaws.

This table shows the Top 20 Movies of 2015 (so far). It tells me that horrors are a fairly popular genre within the UK because 4 of the top 20 movies in 2015 are horror movies.

In conclusion I believe that horror movies have been very popular in 2015. I have noticed that there has always been at least 2 horror movies within the top 10 movies, not only did it tell us the movie name but it also told me the distributor of the movie, which will help me in future research . These tables have also allowed me to identify the favourite horror subgenres, which will help me to see what people prefer to watch.
