Who watches thriller films?0 In general the thriller genre attracts a whole range of target audiences as a familiarity amongst all audiences is that

majority of people enjoy the pleasure of watching a film with a little tension and excitement. Amongst all the target audiences within the film industry mid-teens and young adults tend to watch thriller films the most., specifically from the ages of 16-25. The reason being is that both teenagers halfway through their teen years, and young adults do not have much of a difference between them, as majority of the mid-teens are studying in sixth form or college, and majority of young adults are studying in university. Therefore due to the similar lifestyles both mid-teens and young adults have similar interests such as watching thriller films.

0 A thriller film is embodied by the typical codes and conventions. Such as, low key lighting, a range of camera shots, dark colours, a thrilling story line and more. All of these codes and conventions put together attract mid-teens and young adults as both target markets are at a young age; which implies that they are desperate to take risks in order to live their lives to the fullest. Courageous emotions like this are incorporated within a thriller film to emphasise the film as a whole. Therefore when mid-teens and young adults watch thriller films they are literally left on the edge of their seat. The reason being is all of the codes and conventions have been used are exaggerated, which implies a greater impact on the audience.

0 The target audience is a an important factor of a thriller film as well as every other film, as it is the reaction from the target audience that infers weather the film is good or not. This means that when the initial release of a film is arriving such things like viral marketing will take place, as a call for the target audience so that when the film is released there is a positive reaction from the target audience.
