WHO WILL OUR TARGET AUDIENCE BE?

Our documentary is about the rise in body modification among young people and how this affects their lives - this could be from their chances of being employed to affecting their education. We have aimed to portray the publics opinion on these matters, so our documentary is mainly aimed on students and young people who are possibly considering body modification or already have modifications who are interesting in observing how this could be positively or negatively effecting their lives. This is mainly aimed at 16 year olds and above, who are working to middle class, as we felt it is mainly this class of society who are interested in body modification. This is a topic that our target audience can relate to, as they may feel discriminated against because of their decisions in life, such as being scrutinised for getting a piercing from their parents and teachers and they feel this as being an unfair matter. It helps to show the interests of young people in today's society and how their interests may affect their life positively or negatively. It also shows how society has changed over the years, and how it has remained the same. We will show this through including the history of tattoos and whether society has always had such a large interest in such body modification. We will able to draw comparisons between these two audiences, the past and present. Students from the age 16 may be considering getting a body modification, as the legal age for getting a tattoo draws closer (age 18), and so we aim for our information to inform them to make the best decision they possibly can. They may consider how their body modifications may affect their future and so make a wiser decision on the matter. In order to help engage the viewer with these matters we will aim for our documentary to be both informative and entertaining.
