At Tamworth Sixth Form, we offer the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, worth one A-level, and the Level 3 Diploma, equivalent to two A-levels. We also offer Level 2 BTEC as a stepping stone to Level 3 courses, along with resits of GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics.

• SportandExerciseSciences The course focuses on the application of scientific principles to sports performance and coaching. You will have the opportunity to complete individual, group and project experiments in sports science. This course is suitable for those who wish to pursue a career in the field of sport, sport science, sports coaching or professional sports. Requirements:BTEC Science Merit – Distinction, grade 4< in GCSE English and a grade C< in Science.

• PerformingArts Students will learn about the exciting, contemporary world of performance through exploration of plays, musical theatre and devising their own pieces of performance material in their chosen discipline. Cultural and social diversity will be explored through the investigation of the professional world, practical techniques and their origins, as well as directors, choreographers and playwrights. Requirements: BTEC Performing Arts or related subject Merit - Distinction or A* - C at GCSE.

• IT The purpose of the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT is to prepare learners to become occupationally ready to take up employment in the IT sector and manage aspects of the creative industries at a high level. This can follow either directly after achieving the qualification, or via the stepping stone of Higher Education (at university or college). By studying a BTEC, learners develop knowledge, understanding and skills required by the sector, including essential employability skills, and apply them in real work contexts. Requirements:ICT/Applied ICT GCSE A* - C / ICT OCR National or DIDA or CIDA or BTEC First Merit Distinction and a grade 4< in English. Students who have not studied ICT previously may be considered. A grade 4< in GCSE Maths is preferred.

• Engineering The course is aimed at those who would like a career in engineering, and can be a step on the pathway to a career in the following areas: mechanical/industrial engineering, drafting (technical drawing), computer aided drafting/manufacturing, technical manufacturing, consulting, managerial roles and many more! This qualification can also be used to secure a top university placement specialising in engineering. Requirements:BTEC Engineering or related subject Merit – Distinction is preferable, but not essential. If not studied, candidate must have a grade 4< in GCSE Maths.

• AppliedScience Are you interested in studying science through a more vocational perspective? Would you prefer to study science through coursework based projects rather than examinations? If so, this could be the course for you. It will offer you more opportunities to actively experience the scientific environment through work experience, links with local employers, case studies and research. Students could progress on to medically-related degree courses such as Biomedical Sciences, Genetics and Radiography or careers in laboratory-based industries. Requirements:GCSE grade 4< in English, Maths and a grade C< in Science.

• TravelandTourism Are you a people person? Are you fascinated by the tourist industry? Do you like to experience new cultures? Do you want to work and learn more about the second largest industry in the world? Travel and tourism is a rapidly changing industry that requires employees with an enthusiastic approach to people. This is a work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic travel and tourism situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment opportunities, you will develop the skills needed to start or progress in your career. Requirements:GCSE A* - C / BTEC Travel and Tourism or related subject Merit – Distinction, A* - C at GCSE, or grade 4< in GCSE English.

• CreativeMediaProduction-TelevisionandFilmorSoundProduction Creative and media industries employ 1.5 million people in the UK and have been identified as a strategic growth sector by the Government. These courses will provide you with the practical and interpersonal skills to gain a foothold in these industries. We run two separate pathways in ‘Television and Film’ and ‘Sound Production’, where you will be expected to record and edit a range of media productions. Requirements:BTEC First Diploma in Media or Music at Merit level or above. GCSE English grade 4<.

•HealthandSocialCare The health and social care sector comprises of two sub sectors: health care and social care. Health care encompasses all hospital activities, medical nursing homes and GP services, for example. The social care sector includes residential nursing care, residential nursing facilities, residential care facilities, domiciliary care and social work. Students are able to progress into work in the sector through degree programmes in nursing, midwifery, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and pharmacy, for instance. Requirements:GCSE grade 4< in English, Maths and a grade C< in Science.

• BusinessStudies Business Studies is based on real life situations. Students will be given the opportunity to develop and understand the analytical and evaluative skills required to recognise and solve business problems. It is a fascinating subject that covers areas like: brand loyalty, maximising profit, leadership and running your own business. The course opens up a wide variety of options in Higher Education, including: Business, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Management, HR, International/European Business and Law. It also offers a credible route into employment and training. The course is aimed at students who have a keen interest in entrepreneurship, in how a business operates and the impact of global changes on business performance. Requirements:3 GCSEs grade A* - C / grade 4< to include English and Maths, BTEC Business Merit - Distinction or level 2 equivalent.
