Over the past few weeks in History, Room 9 has been learning about and researching the First Fleet. Our most recent project was to find a convict from the First Fleet, research them, and then write a journal entry from their perspective.
Students had to first look up one of the ships they were interested in, and from there, choose their convict. Everyone was quite surprised to learn that there were many women and children convicts on the
First Fleet as well as men. Once students f o u n d t h e information they needed, and had a good idea of who their person was, they wrote a journal entry as if they were their chosen convict. After writing and revising, students dyed their paper in tea to stain it
and ripped bits off the edges to give the entries a historic look.

5 Keys to Success: Confidence, Organisation, Persistence, Getting Along, Resilience
Dear Parents/Caregivers, Room 17 & 18 assembly
Thank you to parents and carers who attended last week’s assembly that was run by Room 17 and 18. It was a first for Tambrey with students pre-recording all components of the assembly using Ipads and
presenting the finished product via the school network in classrooms. Mr Mullen and Miss Harper supported students as they worked in groups to write scripts, conduct interviews, record individual aspects and combine all parts into an electronic assembly. This project provided purposeful opportunity for students to develop a range of skills including technology, literacy, speaking, listening and social. I commend staff and students of Room 17 and 18 for taking a risk to try something new at Tambrey. I am sure you will agree the assembly was highly entertaining, professionally presented and an outstanding success. Farewells
Over the past two weeks we have farewelled two staff members. Due to personal circumstances AIEO Mrs Kerry Mallard has moved to Carnarvon and has taken an AIEO position at Carnarvon Community College.
Mrs Tess O’Reilly from Room 15 has commenced parental leave in the lead up to the birth of her first baby in coming weeks. We wish them both the very best for the future. Once the government job freeze is lifted we will advertise the AIEO position. We have been able to secure an outstanding upper school teacher who will teach Room 15 from the start of Term Three. Mr Clint Degebrodt will teach the class for the remainder of Term Two. Help needed
The P&C are organising a busy bee to assist us to move furniture and teaching resources in preparation for the two transportables being
removed. Details will be available on the P&C website. We look forward to your support as many hands make light work, even a short amount of your time will be greatly appreciated. Uniforms
We have had problems with the supply of suitable, quality uniform shirts and currently have no stock of blue shirts. We are working to remedy the situation. In the mean-time we ask that families donate 2nd hand uniforms that children have outgrown. We have plenty
of faction uniform shirts which can be worn if you do not have the blue uniform shirt. School Development Day
Finally please be aware that Friday 1st August is a school development day for Karratha schools and there will be no school for students. Monday 4th August is not a school holiday and Tambrey
Primary School will be open as usual.
Thank you for your ongoing and much appreciated support.

For the last three weeks a group of year sevens have been selling curly apples in the canteen at recess. Woolworths
Karratha were kind enough to donate all the apples and it was a huge success. We raised $176.00 which will be put towards the year six and seven graduation nights. I would like to thank Jodie, our Canteen Manager, for helping us and allowing us to use the canteen for this fundraiser. Also, a big thank you to all of the year seven helpers that donated their time at recess. From Emma Guthrie Book Club is due back this Friday, 13th June by 9.00am. Sorry, no late orders can be accepted. There is also a fantastic competition—every order gives you the chance to win one of the ultimate MINECRAFT prize packs. Also, one lucky student will win an Ipad Air! Right: Musica Viva performed last week for our school incursion. The performance was enjoyed by both staff and students!
