DEVELOPED FOR THE PROFESSIONAL LIVE PRODUCTION MARKETThe TallyTec Pro system is a unique and scalable wired/wireless solution that distributes tally status to both camera operators and talent. Built around a base transmitter that can be licensed for four, eight or sixteen camera channels, the base connects to a vision mixer or switcher over serial GPI or USB and distributes Program (PGM) status to lightweight and compact wired or wireless receivers that can be easily mounted to cameras or rigs. However, unique to the TallyTec Pro solution is the ability to also distribute the Preview status from the mixer or switcher (if available) to camera operators and talent so that they are not only aware if they are live but also if they are cued to go live next. This is particularly useful for environments of high ambient noise or where talkback is not available. Base transmitters can be desktop or rack-mounted and wired receivers run over standard RJ45 cabling, with wireless receivers operating on a license free frequency at a distance of up to 2km and also supporting Tally Technologies’ TimeSync feature.

MORE THAN JUST A TALLY LIGHT.TimeSync for wireless configurations. Included with the Pro Base Transmitter is the ability to generate timecode via Tal-lyTec’s TimeSync feature and transmit unified timecode to all Wireless Pro Receivers in a configuration. TimeSync is de-livered from the Pro Wireless Receiver to a camera or external recorder via a supplied 3.5mm to BNC cable and allows for easy synchronisation of multiple cameras for ISO recording purposes. TimeSync checks the clock from the base to each receiver every second to ensure accurate synchronisation and works over the same 2km range that the tally status operates over. In the event that a receiver drifts out of range, due to line of sight restrictions or simply exceeding the range limitation of the system, timecode will continue to run on the receiver but will not be re-clocked to the base until back in range. Under such circumstances a drift in timecode would not be expected within a period of at least one hour.

TALLYTEC PRO BASE TRANSMITTER TallyTec’s Pro Base Transmitter is a compact and light-weight desktop unit at the heart of the TallyTec Pro Solution and is available in 4, 8 or 16-channel configurations. Designed for use in live production and broadcast environments, the Pro Base Transmitter provides tally status to both wireless and/or wired receivers. Powered through mains or 12v battery this robust transmitter continuously outputs both live and preview signals from a wide variety of vision mixers and production switchers to up to sixteen camera or rig mounted receivers.

The transmitter receives information from a mixer or switcher’s program (PGM) output and sends a pulse to turn on the red LEDs on the receiver assigned to this camera channel. If the mixer/switcher also generates information from Preview row, the TallyTec Pro transmits this and turns on a green LED located at the front and back of the receivers to keep the

camera operator and talent informed that this camera will be next ‘on air’. The front LED (for talent) can be switched off if required.

Wired receivers are connected to the transmitter through RJ45 connectors located on the rear panel and are powered through the transmitter. The wireless receivers are rechargeable from the Base unit and connect up to 2km from the base transmitter over a license free frequency. Each transmitter has four different ranges and each one of these ranges can support up to four channels in the 866 transmission waveband. The TallyTec Pro Base Transmitter has the ability to operate with any vision mixers using open/closed contact or +5v or -5v.

Base Transmitters can be upgraded to support 8- or 16-channels enabling the solution to scale with customer growth requirements and a total number of sixteen (16) Pro Receivers can be configured with a fully activated Pro Base Transmitter. A maximum number of eight (8) Pro Wired Receivers

can be connected to a Pro Base Transmitter, but it is possible to mix Wired and Wireless Receivers within a single configuration. The Pro Base Transmitter is also available as a 1U Rackmount.

The Pro Base Transmitter reports the charge status of each Pro Wireless Receiver in a configuration and a total of four transmitters can be used with a single vision mixer or switcher to support configurations up to a total of 64 camera channels.

TIMESYNC ENABLEDTimeSync is a feature built-in to the Pro Base Transmitter and is compatible with Pro Wireless Receivers. Timecode can be generated on the Base Transmitter and delivered wirelessly to all connected Wireless Receivers enabling the Receiver to provide timecode to the local camera and/or external recorder to provide easy and seamless synchronisation of all cameras/recorders for ISO recording purposes.

TIMESYNC TimeSync to the TallyTec Pro system, providing users with the ability to eas-ily synchronise multiple cameras and/or external recorders with unified timecode generated from the TallyTec Base Transmitter.

This function is not just aimed at us-ers of traditional broadcast and high-end cameras, but also at the growing user-base equipped with mirrorless, DSLR cameras and low-cost cam-corders who face the challenge of how to synchronise multi-cam recordings.

Now that leading external 4K and HD external recorders such as the Atom-os Shogun feature timecode input as standard it is now as simple as con-necting a TallyTec Pro Receiver to the timecode input on the external re-corder or camcorder.

The ability to easily provide unified timecode to cameras and external re-corders either wirelessly or through wired connections means users can run a multi-cam shoot with a mixture of high-end professional video cam-eras and entry-level HDMI cameras (equipped with external recorders), all with the absolute knowledge that all material is in sync and ready for the post-production process.

Achieves the dream of effortless multi-cam editing within users NLE post-production workflow, particular-ly for production companies working to a tight budget.

HOW TIMESYNC WORKSThe TallyTec Base Transmitter can be set to run Time of Day or manually configured Record Run or Auto-Re-start timecode. It will send out a signal and frame accurately sync all TallyTec Pro Wireless Receivers in the con-figuration that in turn provide frame accurate synchronisation into the re-spective camera or external recorder/device that the receiver feeds.

The transmitter and receivers are syn-chronised and kept in sync every 25 frames, and in the event that a receiv-er loses signal from the base the re-ceiver will continue to run the clocked timecode, ensuring that the attached device is kept in sync. Once a signal is re-established with the base the re-ceiver will then synchronise with the base timecode to ensure accuracy. Even in the event of a dropped signal between the base and a receiver the timecode on the receiver should stay in sync for at least a couple of hours without drift.

For users wanting to sync to ‘house reference’ or an external timecode, Tally Technologies will be adding a separate connection device that will interface with the Base Transmitter and will provide users with timecode input and genlock. The expected timeframe for this is Q2 2016.

Timesync is a hugely beneficial ad-dition to users of the TallyTec Pro configuration and runs alongside the standard innovative tally functional-ity, enabling tally program (live) and preview information to be displayed on the Pro Receivers in addition to the timecode synchronisation that can be passed through to cameras, recorders or other devices.

For a demo of the solution please contact Global Distribution – the au-thorised distributor for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Add TALLYTEC to your studio with wireless and wired packs. Up to sixteen cameras and recorders devices can be synchronised from the TallyTec Pro Base Transmitter at one time to keep everything in perfect sync. when you want freedom of movement, wireless tally is the way to go!

TallyTec Pro Receivers

The TallyTec Pro Wireless Receiver is a small, light-weight unit that can be mounted on a camera, rig or jib, via a 1/4” mounting point, and deliveries tally status to both the camera operator and the talent. Pro Wireless Receivers except a tally status from a Pro Base Transmitter over a license-free frequency up to a 2km range* and can display both program (PGM) status via a red indicator, or preview state as a green indicator. This allows operators and talent alike to be aware of not only what camera is live, but also the camera that is due to go live next.

A rear tally light on the receiver indicates to the camera operator whether they are live or cued as preview, while a larger front tally light displays this same state for the talent being filmed. A simple rocker switch on the receiver enables configuration of whether both front and rear tally lights are active, or whether just the rear (operator) light is active. Included with each receiver is a light-pipe extension so that operators can easily relocate their tally to a more suitable/discrete location if desired and a short RJ45 cable is included to enable charging of the Pro Wireless Receiver’s internal battery from a TallyTec Pro Base Transmitter unit. Pro Wireless Receivers can also be used in ‘wired’ configuration through the RJ45 connection if desired.

The TallyTec Pro system also has a feature called TimeSync. With this feature the Pro Base Transmitter generates timecode and and sends it wirelessly (along with any tally status information) to all Pro Wireless Receivers in a configuration. A supplied cable provided with each Pro Receiver allows timecode to be delivered from the receiver to a camera or external recorder via a BNC connection to that device. TimeSync therefore allows for easy for easy synchronisation of multiple cameras for ISO recording purposes without the need for any other devices, perhipherals or cables to be run.
