Research shows that peoplewho are taken to concerts aschildren are much more likelyto attend as adults – familyconcerts are a great way tostart the concert-going habitfor a lifetime!

Each concert has a theme andyou’re invited to join in withthe festivities by wearingfancy dress.

After a hugely popularperformance in 2008, directorSuzie Templeton’s Oscar Award-winning film Peter & the Wolfreturns as a new year’s treat withlive music by the Royal LiverpoolPhilharmonic Orchestra and anewly commissioned script bypoet Simon Armitage.

These screenings will also boastsome captivating elements thatoffer the audience a whole newinsight into Peter’s world. High-tech mini cameras are used totake the audience through aminiaturised version of the film’soriginal set and models, enablingfans a unique perspective on thefilm.

See the white blizzards, dazzling blue oceansand vast wilderness of the South, watch themighty polar bear, the haunting belugawhales and beautiful humpback whales inthe company of the Royal LiverpoolPhilharmonic Orchestra, a specially arrangedscore and an immense screen.

Scientists say the Arctic is changing morerapidly and acutely than anywhere on theplanet; 2007 witnessed the lowest sea icecoverage in recorded history. JacquesCousteau said that it’s easier to protect whatwe love. This is an event that will make youlove these increasingly fragile places.

Philharmonic Hall is situated on HopeStreet, approximately 10 minutes’ walk fromthe city centre. The main entrance issituated on Hope Street at the junctionwhere Hardman Street meets Hope Streetopposite the Philharmonic Public House.

Accessible parkingIf you hold a Blue Badge, you can park in themarked bays close to Philharmonic Hall onCaledonia Street. These spaces are availableon a first come, first served basis so leaveyourself plenty of time.

Directions from the M62Continue along the motorway until its endand then follow the signs for the city centre,cathedrals and universities (c.3 miles). Turnleft at the Metropolitan Cathedral and headpast the Everyman Theatre along HopeStreet (see map). If lost, use this maxim: findone cathedral, head for the other.The Phil is halfway between the two.
