Crabs and lobsters in splashes of neon pink and orange and vibrant vegetables printed onto colourful canvas tote bags head up the Talented SS Collection 2016. Talented has collaborated with designers: Leslie Astor, Sam Groom and Mary Fellows under the direction of lead designer Julia Gash to create six stunning and affordable tote bag ranges. Sam Groom’s flower heads summon up summer and Mary Fellows jolly vision of vintage Britain creates a range to turn heads and make people smile. Talented also looks to the wider world for inspiration in two collections which incorporate authentic Indian indigo printed cotton and Hawaiian canvas fabric, overprinted with bright pink, neon or white slogans and imagery. With an ethical and ecological provenance, Talented continues to grow as a genuinely green and clean international accessory brand, which is driven by British design.

Working from her shop and studio in Sussex, Mary creates her designs on tea towels and home wares, which have been adapted by Talented into a distinctive range of printed, canvas tote bags.

THINGS I KNOW ABOUT INDIA - BY JULIA GASH

Designer Julia Gash is also a geographical geek and loves describing the world through her tote bag ranges. Things I Know About India incorporates a series of images and words that personify the country of India, overprinted onto traditional, Indian, indigo printed cotton.

A Tiger roars, an Elephant trumps, printed in neon orange and neon pink, and in the simple and naïve style of illustration that is Julia’s handwriting. The Taj Mahal and Lotus Flower are other symbols of India, overprinted in the same vibrant orange and pink. Om Shanti and Namaste reveal Julia’s interest in yoga and love of Indian culture that has the principle of peace at its core.

The simple flat tote bags are made from a soft cotton printed with traditional Indian indigo designs and overprinted with Julia’s distinctive artwork. The bags are reversible, using a double thickness of fabric, which is also incorporated into the long handle.
