In the Kansas- Nebraska Act, slavery wasdecided by voting.
The Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 said thatall citizens had to return runaway slaves.
In the Dred Scott decision, (1857) slavery was made legal in all of the territories.
The 13th amendment banned slavery throughout the nation.
