Walter Hinton was a legendry aviator who first achieved recognition in 1919 when he piloted a Curtiss Flying Boat across the Atlantic; the first aircraft to complete a transatlantic flight. He continued to push the aviation frontier throughout the 1920s and 30s by completing such feats as exploring the Arctic by balloon, piloting the first flight from North to South America, and travelling the Amazon by hydroplane. Hinton's wide spread fame led to him becoming a guest speaker on the popular American Aviation Tours.

Fantastic Flight SignaturesAmelia EarhartAmelia Earhart was the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic. She took off from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland on the 20th of May, and landed in Culmore, Northern Ireland 14 hours and 56 minutes later. On June 1st 1937 Earhart took off in an attempt to set a global circumnavigation record. Tragically, between Lae and Howland Island, Earhart, along with her co-pilot disappeared completely and to this day no trace of them or the plane has been found.

His achievements were recognised with the awarding of the Gold Medal by the Fèdèration Aèronautique Internationale and his name lives on today as a true pioneer.

best selections of 1938 North Eastern Airways first flights I’ve seen for a long time, including five which have been signed by the pilot - Flight Officer Boitel Gill. On top of that there is a selection of 1933 Western Air Express, 1933 Provincial Airways, 1934 Highland Airways, and 1934 Railways Air Services first flights, including one pilot signed from each airway. Furthermore there are several illustrated Imperial Airways first flights including London - Rangoon, Calcutta - London, and London - Singapore. The oldest cover is from the UK Aerial Post in
