Expect the extraordinary
Day 1- Arrive New Delhi
Upon arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Flights to
be booked and issued at your end - details to be advised) You will be
welcomed by your &Beyond India host and chauffeured to ‘The
Oberoi New Delhi’
New Delhi, the capital of India is a modern buzzing metropolitan city
with remnants of the past strewn amongst the modern buildings. Much
of New Delhi was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyen’s, who laid out a
grandiose central administrative area as a testament to British
imperial pretensions.
Delhi was established between 900 B.C and 1930. Delhi's famous
"seven cities" range from the 12th century Quila Rai Pithora, built by
Prithviraj Chauhan, to the imperial Shahjahanabad, constructed by
the Mughals in the 17th century.
Of the many attractions in Delhi, the major sites are the Rashtrapati
Bhawan designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens as the British Viceroys Palace,
Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) where the Red Fort is, or Jama Masjid in
the famed Chandni Chowk in the heart of Old Delhi.
The Oberoi: Located in New Delhi, India’s capital city, The Oberoi
New Delhi reflects the city’s spirit in a harmonious blend of tradition
and contemporary sophistication. Located close to the city centre
near business, commercial and shopping districts, the luxury hotel
overlooks Delhi’s prestigious Golf Club on one side and the heritage
site of Humayun’s Tomb on the other. Exquisite interiors, impeccable
service and fine cuisine combine to make this the Capital’s most
graceful and elegant hotel. The award-winning hotel is ideal for
business travel or holidays to explore the cultural wonders of Delhi.
Spend Two Nights at The Oberoi New Delhi. Accommodation will be
in a Premier Room. Your stay is on Bed & Breakfast basis.
Day 2 - New Delhi
At a convenient time today, you will have the opportunity to plunge
deep into the beating heart of Delhi as you take a guided sightseeing
tour of the Chandni Chowk. Immerse yourself in the colourful stalls
and crowded alleyways of this historical market on a rickshaw ride
and visit the Jama Masjid, the largest and most splendid mosque in
India.
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Chandni Chowk: Once the grandest of markets in India. Even though
today Chandni Chowk appears choked with congestion, it retains its
historical character.
Jama Masjid: The Jama Masjid is the principal mosque of Old Delhi.
Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, builder of the Taj
Mahal, and completed in the year 1656 AD, it is the largest and best-
known mosque in India. It lies at the origin of a very busy central
street of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk.
Spice Market: Located in ‘Khari Baoli’ a street in Old Delhi known for
its wholesale grocery and Asia's largest wholesale spice market selling
all kinds of spices, nuts, herbs and food products like rice and tea.
The market is operating since the 17th century.
Later in the afternoon you will embark on a drive through New Delhi's
former colonial splendour, passing the magnificent president's house,
known as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the World War I memorial of the
India Gate and the Old Secretariat building.
Visit the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi’s most prominent Sikh Temple
and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun’s Tomb, India's first
garden-tomb.
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: One of the most prominent Sikh Gurudwara
or Temple, known for its association with the 08th Sikh Guru, Guru Har
Krishan, as well as the pool inside its complex, known as the Sarovar.
As with all Sikh Gurudwaras, the concept of Langar (Community
Kitchen) is practiced, and all people, regardless of race or religion
may eat in the Gurudwara kitchen (Langar hall). The Langar food is
prepared by gursikhs (Sikh Devotees) who work there and also by
volunteers who like to help out.
Optional: You will have the opportunity to lend a helping hand in the
community kitchen or participate in community service.
Humayun’s Tomb: Humayun's tomb is a complex of buildings built as
the Mughal Emperor Humayun's tomb, commissioned by Humayun's
wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562. It was the first structure to use red
sandstone at such a scale. The complex was declared a UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1993.
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Day 3 - New Delhi – Agra
This morning, you will be met and driven to Agra. (approx 4 hours’
drive)
Agra: The city of Agra flourished under the patronage of the emperors
Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan and attracted artisans from Persia
and central Asia. Agra is where Emperor Shah Jahan engraved his
immortal love for his Empress in marble, the Taj Mahal. Agra is still
famous for handicrafts products such as inlay work on marble,
carpets, jewellery, zari and embroidery work.
You will be met on arrival and assisted to check-in at The Oberoi
Amarvilas
The Oberoi Amarvilas: Considered as one of India’s best hotels, The
Oberoi Amarvilas stands unmatched in its grandeur and style. Being
only 600 mtrs away from the Taj Mahal, every single room in this
property looks over the monument.
Once you have settled in, you will embark on a guided tour of the
Agra fort and the Taj Mahal; to view it by Sunset.
Agra Fort. For many years through the Mughal rule, especially during
the period when Agra was the capital of the kingdom, Agra Fort was
renovated and reworked extensively with marble and pietra dura
inlay. Notable buildings in the fort include the Pearl Mosque, the
Diwan-e-Am and Diwan-e-Khas (halls of public and private audience),
Jehangir's Palace, Khaas Mahal, Sheesh Mahal (mirrored palace), and
Musamman Burj.
Taj Mahal: Said to be one of the most elegant and a harmonious
building in the world, Taj Mahal is the manifestation of the wealth
and luxury of Mughal art as seen in its architecture, garden design,
painting, and calligraphy.
Please Note: The entry tickets for visiting the Taj Mahal will be valid
for 3 Hrs only. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has declared
that the Main Dome & 04 Cupola’s would undergo clay packing W.e.f.
April 2018 till November 2018. They would restart the restoration
work from the front facia of the Dome from April & move on towards
the rear side in anti-clockwise direction so that in beginning
September the scaffoldings do not interfere with the view of the Taj
while one enters the complex. However the view from Mehtab Bagh
would remain interfered between August & November as per our
assumptions. At present as per the ASI’s timeline the entire work on
the main building of the Taj Mahal would be completed till November
2018.
Spend One Night at The Oberoi Amarvilas. Accommodation will be in
a Premier Room. Your stay will be on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Day 4 – Agra – Fatehpur sikri – Jaipur
Revisit Taj Mahal at Sunrise
Return to your hotel for Breakfast
Later check-out and drive for about 05 ½ Hours to Jaipur enroute
visiting the deserted Mughal walled city of Fatehpur Sikri.
Fatehpur Sikri: Built by Akbar in the mid-16th century as a new
capital city. It is a fine example of a Mughal walled city with defined
private and public areas and imposing gateways. Its architecture, a
blend of Hindu and Islamic styles, reflects Akbar’s secular vision as
well as his style of governance.
Jaipur: Founded in 1728 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur is where
modernity and tradition exist side by side. The walled city, vibrant
with colours, houses the City Palace, an astronomical observatory and
a bustling bazaar where artisans fashion puppets, silver jewellery, lac
bangles and other handicrafts in their workshops. At a short distance
is the Amber Fort Palace at Amber.
You will be met on arrival and assisted to check-in at the Taj
Rambagh Palace
Taj Rambagh Palace: In the finest tradition of Rajput hospitality, the
Rambagh Palace offers its guests a taste of royal living – a luxury and
extravagance that was once the sole preserve of kings. Its elegantly
appointed rooms, marbled corridors and majestic gardens echo with
history, and every corner has a story to tell.
‘The Jewel of Jaipur’, Ram Bagh Palace, which has been a home to
generations of royals, was converted into a hotel in 1972.
Spend Two Nights at Taj Rambagh Palace. Accommodation will be in
a Palace Room. Your stay will be on Bed & Breakfast Basis
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Day 5 – Jaipur
This morning you will embark on a guided tour of the stunning
Amber fort
Amber Fort: It was once the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa
clan of Amber, before the capital was shifted to present day Jaipur.
Amber Fort is known for its unique artistic style, blending both Hindu
and Muslim (Mughal) elements, and its ornate and breathtaking
artistic mastery.
The afternoon will be spend exploring the Jaipur City Palace,
marvelling at the ancient astronomical instruments in the
Observatory Tower and admiring the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds):
City Palace: A wonderful combination of Mughal and Rajput forms of
architecture, it is now partly a museum housing miniature paintings,
manuscripts, Mughal carpets, musical instruments, royal costumes and
weapons, giving invaluable insight into Jaipur's royal past.
Observatory Tower or the Jantar Mantar was built between 1728 and
1734 and it houses precise instruments for measuring “the harmony of
heavens”. Each instrument serves a particular function and gives an
accurate reading.
Hawa Mahal (Photo stop only): perhaps Jaipur’s most famous building;
the Hawa Mahal is the pink sandstone façade of a palace built for the
ladies of the harem by Sawai Pratap Singh. The façade contains 953
small casements under a huge curve, each with a balcony and
crowning arch. The windows enable cool air (Hawa) to circulate and
the zenana to watch processions below without being seen.
Later this evening; you will be taken to the retreat of Dera Amer,
where you will get an opportunity to interact with the Elephants,
which is followed by sumptuous alfresco dinner.
Dera Amer situated behind the hills of the famous Amer Fort is the
ideal location for outdoor recreational and adventure activities in very
close proximity to the city of Jaipur. The Camp is surrounded by the
wilderness of a reserved forest with no urban civilization in the
vicinity, just a few hamlets housing the local villagers occupied by
farming on their fields.
A local Rajput family who themselves reside in the area organize
elephant, horse and camel safaris in the jungle using their beautiful
home and the camp as a base, as well as getting the guests to interact
with the local farmers in the village
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Day 6 – Jaipur – Jodhpur
Today you will drive to Jodhpur (approximately 05 hours with a
Packed Lunch). A dazzling blaze of blue on the eastern edge of the
Thar Desert, Jodhpur is dominated by the imposing fortress that
towers above the city on a sandstone ridge.
You will be met on arrival and assisted to check-in at the Taj Umaid
Bhawan Palace.
Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace: The last of the great palaces of India and
one of the largest residences in the world – set amidst 26 acres of lush
gardens. Part museum, part royal residence and part hotel, the Umaid
Bhawan Palace, with its ornate, art deco design, offers fascinating
insight into the lives of the royals, with visitors even given the
possibility of an enticing glimpse of the current maharaja, who still
maintains a home within the palace complex.
Remainder of the evening is at leisure to unwind after the long drive.
Spend Two Nights at Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace. Accommodation will
be in a Palace room. Your stay is on Bed & Breakfast Basis.
Day 7 – Jodhpur
This morning will met by your guide and embark on a Jeep Safari to
Bishnoi Village
The Village Safari is designed to provide you with an authentic rural
experience. The purpose of the Safari is to showcase the vibrant rural
life style of Marwar where the guests can see first-hand; the daily
struggles and joys of the hardy yet ever welcoming people of the
desert.
The highlight of the Safari is the Bishnoi tribe who are regarded as the
first environment conservationist of the world and have been
preserving the flora and fauna for the past 550 years as a religion.
Their efforts are evident in the large number of wild animals that can
be seen during this Safari including the rare black bucks, Chinkara
deer, blue bulls, desert fox and Demoiselle Cranes to just name a
few! We organise the famous opium ceremony which is an integral
welcome ritual at the house of a Bishnoi along with turban tying.
The Safari also provides you with an opportunity to see the dying
handicraft art form called “Pattu” making. This rare handicraft was
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
once a thriving business before the advent of the machine knitting
factories. The Pattu is a form of rug making that used to be an
integral part of any household in olden days. Used as a rug which can
be spread to sleep on as well as to wear during the chilly winters, this
multipurpose handicraft is now a rarity. The art of Pattu making used
to be passed from father to son, but due to the economic constraints
this art is slowly dying out.
Later drive back to Jodhpur and embark on a guided tour the
Mehrangarh Fort & Jaswant Thada.
Mehrangarh Fort: Encircled within the massive city walls, the
majestic Mehrangarh Fort keeps watch over a maze of rooftops from
its perch on a rocky mountaintop. Bathed in yellow light at night, this
imposing stronghold has the reputation of being the best maintained
fort in Rajasthan, and the palace complex, with its network of
courtyards, is well worth exploring. The museum also houses fabulous
galleries of art and armour, a superb collection of elephant howdahs
and other stunning royal artefacts.
Jaswant Thada: Sprawled in the shadow of the mountaintop fort, the
Blue City also boasts the Jaswant Thada, a beautiful marble
crematorium constructed for the maharajahs in the 19th century.
You may round off your afternoon with a visit to the local Market.
Stroll past Clock Tower Market toward Nai Sarak, sample the famous
mirchi bada – ‘fried chilli’, at Janta Sweet Home, pick up lac bangles
at ‘Sadar Market’ and choose from an array of spices at the ‘Spice
Market’.
Day 8 – Jodhpur – Mumbai – Nagpur – Pench
Late morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Mumbai (AI475 /
Dep 1420 Hrs :: Arr 1600 Hrs / Air India)

You will be met on arrival at Nagpur Airport and driven to the
Jamtara Wilderness Camp in Pench National Park (approx. 02 ½

Pench National Park. A spectacular natural reserve set among typical
Central Indian teak jungle, Pench offers a quiet and secluded game
viewing experience. Taking its name from the meandering Pench River
which intersects the park, the reserve sprawls over a breathtaking
landscape of hills, forests and valleys. Coupled with the feeling of
having the entire forest to yourself, the gentle, undulating scenery of
the Satpura Hills creates an unforgettable jungle experience. The
mosaic of vegetation, from lush valleys to dry, deciduous forests
creates a range of habitats for India’s exotic wildlife. Flat hilltops
known as dadars appear among grassy expanses and riverine forests. A
typical Central Indian Teak forest, Pench supports a rich variety of
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
wildlife, including the tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur, sambar, chital
etc.
The Jamtara Wilderness Camp is ideally located in the village of
Jamtara, at the foot of the Pench National Park. The Camp is cloaked
within the safety of surrounding arjuna trees that tower to the
heavens. The property features 10 grand tents, intended to elicit an
airy and light atmosphere with fine views of the wide expansive
landscape. The entrance of the structure is easily rolled up, inviting
the warmth of the Indian sun and its glowing rays that illuminate the
local artwork within the tent walls. Tents boast beds that are large
and comfortable with deluxe linens, firm structured bathrooms, and
private indoor and outdoor living areas
Spend Three Nights at Jamtara Wilderness Camp. Accommodation
will be in a Luxury tents. Your stay will be on Jungle Plan basis
(cycle of 3 meals a day i.e. breakfast; lunch & dinner & scheduled
game drives)
Day 9/10 – Pench
Early morning and afternoon game drives are done in open 4x4 jeeps.
An experienced naturalist will accompany you and explain and point
out interesting flora and fauna.
The reserve is set in a thick teak jungle that sets it apart from other
important Central Indian national parks. It is home to a number of
water bodies along with the Pench river that flows through it. The
terrain is undulating and most of the area is covered by small hills,
steeply sloping on the sides. Pench has a healthy population of wild
dogs or 'Dhole' and sightings here are more common than other
Central Indian parks. The park offers a quiet and secluded jungle
experience.
Note: Pench Tiger Reserve is closed for park drives on Wednesday
afternoons.
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
Day 11 – Pench – Kanha
This morning you will transferred to Banjaar Tola Camp in Kanha
National Park (approx. 04 hours’ drive)
Kanha National Park: Kanha National Park has ideal habitat for tigers
and their prey species. Prime tiger wilderness, it was one of the first
areas to be protected under Project Tiger and is one of the largest
conservation areas today. Lush Sal and bamboo forests are
interspersed with vast grassy meadows while the Banjaar river forms
the south-western border of the park and provides a steady water
source for the abundant wildlife.
Note: Kanha is closed during the monsoon months - 31st June to 15th
October
Banjaar Tola: An elegant safari lodge ideally located along the still
Banjaar River at the foot of Kanha National Park. The dramatic setting
of the lodge creates a theatre of jungle discovery and adventure, with
constant reminders of the wildlife haven outside. The lodge features
luxurious and airy tents with contemporary lines and finishes amid a
forest backdrop.
Note: Banjaar Tola does not stock alcohol at their property; however
the lodge staff will be happy to procure the preferred liquor from the
local wine shop as per the guest’s requirements.
Experience a scheduled afternoon game drive in a shared jeep.
Spend Three Nights at Banjaar Tola. Accommodation will be in a
Cottage. Your stay will be on Jungle Plan basis (cycle of 3 meals a
day i.e. breakfast; lunch & dinner & scheduled game drives)
Day 12/13 – Kanha
Explore the dense jungles of Kanha National Park on early morning
and afternoon park drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle. Specially
trained naturalists will accompany you throughout, pointing out and
explaining details about the jungle.
One of the joys of exploring this park is the range of habitats each
with their own characteristics. There are long stretches of tall sal
(Shorea Robusta) trees with breaks of bamboo and large expanses of
mixed deciduous forest. Riverine patches are dissected by streams of
gin-clear water which make for perfect cooling spots for the animals
in the heat. Kanha is famous for its vast meadows or ‘maidans’, many
of which were previously ‘forest villages’ before their relocation.
These fields are excellent habitat for large herds of spotted deer and
Swamp deer that are preyed on by packs of wild dogs or ‘Dhole’. All
www.andBeyond.com Taj Mahal & Jungle Safari- 2019-20
of these are interconnected by an excellent network of forest tracks
and dirt roads.
Note: Kanha Tiger Reserve is closed for park drives on Wednesday
afternoons.

flights have been organized by us. While we take the maximum care to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for
you &Beyond South Asia is not responsible for the fitness of the carriers or the safety standards of the carrier
company.
In order to comply with International Insurance requirements &Beyond South Asia can only reserve seats, be it on a
provisional or confirmed basis, on both domestic/scheduled or charter flights.
Please note that airfares may increase between time of booking, time of payment and the ticket being issued. Any
costs incurred due to amendments will not be borne by &Beyond South Asia.
&Beyond South Asia cannot be held responsible should airlines discontinue flights on certain routings or change
scheduled timetables, resulting in missed connections etc. Should an amendment in a routing or itinerary be
necessary we will re-quote you accordingly
