DESCRIPTION

The “Taj” collection is my tribute to India, to pass on their use of color, traditional motifs used in henna patterns, textiles, and architectural details. The designs, which are all named after cities in India, are shown in Persian knot in various combinations of hemp, linen, wool, silk and bamboo to play up the richness of textures. Due to the custom nature of our product we can also offer these beautiful designs in a vast array of qualities such as soumac flat weave, Tibetan or Hand tufted. Your NIBA sales manager will be pleased to guide you in deciding which is most appropriate for your particular project.

My love affair with all things Indian started when I was just 13 during my first trip to Kashmir India with my family. We stayed on a houseboat on Lake Dahl and had lazy days of traversing the lake by shikaras (similar in shape to gondolas) past lily pads, mogul gardens, and floating spice sellers. I was immediately struck by the intensity of the colors, flavors, sounds and smells. This vivid memory has stayed with me since and I have always wanted to return to India again and again. As the owner of NIBA Rug Collections I am lucky to be able to visit India annually. I am in awe of their use of colors and unexpected color combinations – saffron oranges with deep purples, licorice reds mixed with lime green or sunflower yellow. Colors which awake your senses and make you feel warm and happy.

I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I have loved creating it!
