Tainan East Gate

• East Gate is one of the eight gates of Tainan in Taiwan, but also the largest one.

The tower was built in Qing Dynasty.

• The Qing Dynasty built the tower to stop bad soldiers from asking farmers and businessmen for money.

• At the end of Qing Dynasty, it was a two-floor tower after Lin Rebel War took place. It became higher to keep rebels(反叛者 ) away.
