The TPR is marked by its increasing numbers of participants and the presence of numerous international competitors who have helped turn this into one of the largest sporting events to take place in this country. It has an authentic, sportive, festive spirit and is the largest regatta in the Pacific islands. This international competition takes place in the most beautiful lagoons of French Polynesia. Each evening celebrates the Polynesian art of living and tradition. The Raiatea Regatta association makes all administrative and festive details of this event possible, thanks to enthusiastic volunteers. One of the top places for nautical tourism, Raiatea, with its main 150m long pier (500ft), offers many amenities for sailboats, such as marina, shipyards, and supplies. TAHAA, VANILLA ISLANDRaiatea’s little sister, the vanilla island, is generous with its authenticity and sheltered anchoring areas. It is possible to do a sailing tour. Patio, the main village, has an infi rmary, a bank and shops.

BORA BORA : THE PEARL OF THE PACIFICThis ancient volcano sports the immense silhouette of its two peaks, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, whose rich green hues contrast the gradient sapphire, jade and turquoise shades of the magnifi cent lagoon surrounding the island. ZOOM OVER PREVIOUS YEARSIn 2015, 324 participants were recorded.

In 2014, the TPR took place from April 29-May 4 with a course that included Raiatea, Bora-Bora and Tahaa. More than 45 sailboats took part with more than 300 crewmembers representing over a dozen nationalities.

In 2013, the 10th edition was a record year : 366 participants and 285 crew members who hit the seas in more than 53 sailboats. This edition gathered local teams along with 37% of international participants.

SPORTING SCHEDULE THE RACE BEGINS IN RAIATEA, THE ISLAND OF SAILS.

The three days of the regatta will combine skill and performance on the water. There is no maximum number of participants. This event is open to all kinds of boats, monohulls, and catamarans of any size.

The program will be released as soon as possible.

RACING RULES Regattas will last from 1-5 hours, depending on the day, course and wind conditions.

Boats are expected to sport the advertisements se-lected and provided by the organizers. The winning Polynesian team will receive a trip for four to the Voiles de Saint-Tropez, including plane tickets, lodging and use of a yacht.

Registration forms can be downloaded as of February 2016 from the TPR website.

Registration Fees are 15,000 FCP (USD$130) per boat in the TPR challenge and 50,000 FCP (USD$434) per boat in the corporate challenge.

During registration, you need to provide the name of the boat that will be in the regatta. Complete information will be required, such as the boat’s registration number, name, fl ag and type of craft (monohulled or multihulled).

A deposit is required for each dodger that will be refunded during the last evening’s event.

Each team member must be affi liated with the Fédération Tahitienne de Voile (Tahitian Sailing Federation). The Yacht Club of Raiatea will be onsite

in the racing village with temporary membership cards available for 500 FCP per person (USD$4).

Upon registration for this race, participants attest that each boat has liability insurance, has the required equipment to navigate more than 6 nautical miles from shelter, and is authorized to sail with a category C.

An entertainment packet available at 20,000 CFP per crewmember (USD$174) provides access to the three festive dinners for the inauguration, closing dinner and awards ceremony.

REGISTRATION

ENTRY- The racing category of the Regatta is open to monohulled boats possessing an HN gauge certifi cate and multihulled boats possessing a Multi2000 gauge certifi cate.- Boats without a gauge certifi cate are not permitted to race and will be classifi ed in real time as “cruising.”- French competitors must present a valid FFvoile or FTvoile license.- Foreign competitors must present valid liability insurance.- Boats will need to be registered through fi lling out the registration form accompanied by the fees and copy of the HN or Multi2000 gauge certifi cate and submitted to the organizers.
