DATA MATRIX BARCODE• 2D DIRECT COMPONENT MARKING SPECIFICATIONS• The following Component Verification (CV) specification is written as a supplement to the Tagprint Pro labeling program.  In 

some cases, it is required that a 2‐D Datamatrix barcode be printed on a label that is going to be wrapped onto a cable.  Typically 2‐D barcodes are made for flat surfaces.  It may be possible to get a readable barcode when applied to a curved surface by following the instructions listed below.

• 1. General Marking– a. The quiet zone (margin) around the matrix shall be equal to or greater than one (1) cell size– d. If the marking is made on round/curved surface, the symbol coverage shall be less than 16% of the diameter (or 

5% of circumference).– e. Angular deviation of 90 degree plane between row and column shall not exceed +/‐ 7 degrees.– f. Application of the marking should be done using thermal transfer technology for the best readability.

How to print a constant UID barcode using the DataMatrix Barcode for 

Military applications

Select a CONSTANT Datamatrix barcode and click and drag to make a barcode box.

Check the box indicating that “Data Matrix is Uid”.   Note that 4 new properties will appear as “Data Matrix Uid Code01, 02, 03 and 04.

Enter up to four separate pieces of data which will be encoded into the UID barcode.   Tagprint Pro will automatically insert the ASCII separators.

How to print a variable UID barcode

Select a  TABLE ‐ Datamatrix barcode and click and drag to make a barcode box.   The delimiter will be set to SPACE as the default.

Once the Delimiter is changed to UID, up to 4 table columns can be encoded into the UID barcode.  In this example, we selected columns A, B and C as our fields that will be used to import data.

Create a new TABLE or open an existing TABLE.  Enter the data to be encoded into the A, B and C columns.  Note that the data will automatically include the required ASCII separator’s as shown on the “Design” side of the screen above.

Toggle the FIELD CODES and then click FILE and FULL PREVIEW.

The Datamatrix Process Tilde (when selected) is a manual means to specify special characters in the input data.  If desired, the tilde character “~” can be used for tilde processing.~1: is used to represent the FNC1 code~2: DEPRECATED!  Use new structured append properties.~3: is used only at the very beginning of a symbol for barcode reader programming.  It cannot be used with S.~5: is used only at the very beginning of a symbol for Macro 05.  

Again, If unselected, Tagprint Pro automatically add the special header, trailer and separator characters when creating a UID barcode.
