Reactions 431 - 12 Dec 1992 Tacrolimus is diabetogenic in the cynomolgus monkey. Hyperglycaemia developed in 3/5 monkeys who underwent pancreatic transplants and were given immunosupressive doses of tacrolimus, IM then orally. Hyperglycaemia and impaired glucose elimination were reversible in 2 monkeys after a dose reduction. Mild hyperglycaemia also occurred in non- transplanted monkeys (n = 10) after they were given oral tacrolimus. Ericzon B-G, et al.
