■ Tacrolimus is diabetogenic in the cynomolgusmonkey. Hyperglycaemia developed in 3/5 monkeyswho underwent pancreatic transplants and were givenimmunosupressive doses of tacrolimus, IM then orally.Hyperglycaemia and impaired glucose eliminationwere reversible in 2 monkeys after a dose reduction.Mild hyperglycaemia also occurred in non-transplanted monkeys (n = 10) after they were givenoral tacrolimus.Ericzon B-G, et al.
