HOT FLASH (Harry continues to fill in for Jerry while his hand heals, and he is out of town!)

We had a perky group of 11 that showed up for last week’s meeting. Our members included Laura Hall, Vanessa Hopf, Jan Bettenburg, Pam Bock, Joe Guerra, Marc Cooper, Dana Collins, Joan Isaacs and Harry Ger-hard. We were joined once again by Joe’s grandson Trenton and Micky Lufkin dropped in for part of the meeting. With the Robbins group MIA, Joe ran the meeting in Paul’s absence. Jerry was still galivanting around the country while his hand heals up. Joe announced that our program on September 6 will be a club discussion on the pros and cons of merging with the Medford club. That evening will be a meeting of direc-tors of both clubs at Black Bear Diner to further discuss the idea. Harry reminded the group of the Gold Hill Community Kids Day on Saturday. Program: Our program last week was another last minute fill-in by

Harry in that a hopeful wasn’t available on a Thursday. Harry filmed his

trip from Central Point to Newberg, a trip that took 4 hours and 3 minutes

of driving. Knowing that that video would not fit in the meeting’s time con-

straints, he did a little magic with his video editing software and created a

time lapse of the whole trip that took 20 minutes. At best, it was a little

entertaining, and somewhat humorous. Dana is still trying to figure why

they didn’t stop at Heaven on Earth for a Cinnamon roll and then again at

Rice Hill for Ice Cream. I guess there just wasn't enough time to fit that in

on a twenty minute Saturday morning drive.

THE SUPER POT

Once again, there weren’t any Super Pot tickets sold, so there was no winner, so the Pot re-mains the same, and the deck of cards still has the Joker.

It’s hard to climb the ladder of success, especially if you’re trying to

keep your nose to the grindstone, your head above water, your shoul-

der to the wheel, your eyes on the ball, and your ear to the ground

SPIRITUAL AIMS

EVER PRESENT

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 ESV

Have you ever really enjoyed being in the presence of someone?

It might have been a boyfriend or girlfriend. Maybe someone who always made you laugh, and you probably still look forward to spending time with them.

The Psalmist wrote that in God’s presence there is a fullness of joy for us.

In the Old Testament, God dwelt in the Holy of Holies, and it was where His presence was (Leviticus 16:2). Once a year, a priest was chosen to enter there.

But, we read that after Jesus died on the cross, its separating veil was ripped (Matthew 27:51). Therefore, God no longer dwells there.

We can often look for that Holy of Holies experience in our places of worship.

We may walk into a church service and sense that God is there; which is probably true.

We constantly long for that sense wherever Christians meet. But, should this be the only time that we sense God’s presence? Should we really be searching for God’s presence?

Or, should we be acknowledging God’s constant presence in our lives?

Jesus says that He will always be with us (Matthew 28:20) and He even sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us (John 14:15-17).

Instead of looking for God in a place or a special gathering, meditate on the truth that God is not confined to any location or event. He is ever present, whether we can “feel” Him or not., plenty of clean drinking water and a change of clean clothes you are more wealthy than

A Wrinkle in Time A little girl got on her grandpa's lap and said, "Did God make me?"

"Yes," the grandpa replied.

"Did God make you too?"

"Yes," the grandpa said.

"Well," the little girl said, looking at his wrinkles and thinning hair. "He sure is doing a better job nowadays!"

QUESTION OF THE MOMENT

Last week’s question was “What percentage of Americans take no prescription drugs?” There was a range of answers from 8% to 54%. The correct answer was 30% which

was smack between Laura’s 23% and Vanessa’s 37%, making them both winners as the clos-est. Vanessa scored a small bottle of Armorall window washer while Laura settled for a bag of corn nuts.

Today’s Question:

In that the kids are back to school or soon will be heading back to school, what is the

average amount a family spends on school supplies each year?

Laughter...the Best Medicine

An old man and his wife went to the doctor's office. The doctor asked the man for a blood,

urine and feces sample.

The man was slightly deaf and said, "What?"

The doctor said, "I need a blood, urine and feces sample."

The man still looked puzzled, so his wife leaned over and yelled into his ear, "Sheldon, the

doctor needs a pair of your underwear."

A blonde notices that her coworker has a thermos, so she asks him what it's for. He re-

sponds, "It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold."

The blonde immediately buys one for herself. The next day, she goes to work and proudly

displays it.

Her coworker asks, "What do you have in it?"

She replies, "Soup and ice cream."
