Introduction Faculties and students of Kathmandu University are encouraged to continue to learn and toimprove their capacity to serve as effective educators and to become a better engineer of thecountry. In University, educational tours are accepted as an essential part of education. As perplan, two faculty and 38 students visited different city and institutes of India from 20th ofFebruary, 2013 to 13th March, 2013. Our tour included visits to the cities of Agra, Hyderabad,Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and Gorakhapur respectively. It was a great opportunity to seethe technological development as well as the architectural excellence of our neighboring country,India.
ObjectivesThe following objectives were set for the Visit
• To explore the IT infrastructure and research development activities in different academicand Industries of India.
• To explore the opportunities in India in Information Technologies System.• To explore different cultures and learn about the historical development in IT• To experience the work environment of global companies.• To strengthen the bond between student and student and between faculty and students.• To have refreshment program.
Tour PlanWe have planned to visit India’s two different institutions as suggested by Prof. Partha in
Hyderbad. We selected IIIT-H and CDAC-H to visit in Hyderbad.
According to our plan we left for India on 20th Feb 2013. On 20th and 21st February due to
government employee strike on same day i.e. 20th Feb 2013 at evening we leave for Gorakhpur
and reached their around 11 p.m. During our India visit we had few railway ticked problem.
During our stay in Agra on 21st Feb series of bomb blast occurred and due to that our CDAC-H
visit was cancelled but we were luck to visit IIIT-H on plan date and time. In our India tour we
not only explore university but learn about the cultural and social aspects and some historical

Industrial and Educational Visits in Hyderabad
Visit to IIT HyderabadOn February 26, 2013 we had a visit to International Institute of Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad. Itwas a very fruitful visit. The visit consisted of the following things:
3
Lecture on Data MiningA general introduction to data mining and the algorithms used in it were introduced. The demandand the scope of data mining was also Talked about.
Lecture on Human Computer InteractionIt was interesting and new topic for students. It showed how the usage of the computer systemwas directly related to the functionalities wanted by the user. It also showed how the emotionsand feelings of the user could be analyzed by different sensors using an embedded system.
Introduction to laboratory equipment and their useWe were introduced to the following equipment, used generally to track the human focus andinterest on the given subject. We interacted with the following devices.
Eye TrackerEye tracking is the process of measuring either the point of gaze or the motion of an eye relativeto the head. An Eye Tracker is a device for measuring eye positions and eye movement. Eyetrackers are used in research on the visual system, in psychology, in cognitive linguistics and inproduct design. There are a number of methods for measuring eye movement. The most popularvariant uses video images from which the eye position is extracted. The video based eye trackerwas used.

Mood DetectorMood Detector was developed by the students of IIT. It comes in 2 versions one without aBluetooth connection and one with the Bluetooth connection. The mood detector is shaped like aband and hence is worn around the hand tightly. It consists of temperature and nerve excitationdetector. It checks the excitation of the people with these data according to the work they areasked to do. So if a person is lying about enjoyment in some work (e.g.: reading news), thedevice’s data can be used to plot a graph and hence the points at which the reader is not enjoyingthe work will have lower raised graph than other points.
Entertainment
We also visited different places in India which are listed below:
- TajMahal- Ram Bagh- Mysore Palace- Red Fort- Charminar- Golconda Fort- Birla Mandir- Gateway of India- India Gate- Goa Beach

Suggestions and RecommendationsBased on our experience we would like to make the following recommendations and suggestion
• As much as possible, the tour should be started on the first week of February in order to avoid the hot climate of India.
• Tour should be confined not more than four or five place including industrial city like
Bangalore and Hyderbad. No of days on train travel should be minimized.• No of days of entire tour should not exceed more than 15 days and should be strictly
followed.• While ticketing for Indian tour, if number of days to be travel seems exceeding 15 days,
some of the places should be cut off.• Only confirmed seats should be booked.• Before moving to the tour orientation program should be held where the former one who
have travelled the India tour recently should explained the probable scenario.
