Today’s Matchup“4 Downs” with the Runnin’ Bulldogs

- Since Gardner-Webb posted a 27-24 victory at Liberty on Oct. 21, 2006, the Flames have only lost one Big South game at Williams Stadium (2013 - Coastal Carolina). Liberty is 20-1 in home conference contests during that time.

- Gardner-Webb is the second most common opponent in Liberty football history (trailing Charleston Southern), as the Runnin’ Bulldogs and Flames have squared off 20 times in a series that dates back to 1976. This will be the 15th straight season that Liberty and Gardner-Webb have faced each other on the gridiron.

- Liberty has recorded three straight home wins over Gardner-Webb and seven consecutive vic-tories overall against the Runnin’ Bulldogs, taking an 11-8-1 lead in the all-time series. (See page 18 for the complete game-by-game series results.)

- Liberty is seeking its fourth conference-open-ing victory over Gardner-Webb in its 13th sea-son of Big South football. The Flames are 3-2 in conference openers versus the Runnin’ Bulldogs, including 2-2 at Williams Stadium. Liberty’s first Big South game under head coach Turner Gill was a come-from-behind 42-35 home win over Gard-ner-Webb on Oct. 6, 2012. The Flames erased a 28-10 second-half deficit for Gill’s first-ever vic-tory at Liberty.
