Melbourne Airport PSP Key Definitions

The Melbourne Airport Parking Signage Plan (this document) details the Landside Vehicle Parking Restrictions applicable to the entire Melbourne Aiport precinct, in accordance with Commonwealth consolidated regulations of the Airport (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997 - Reg 106BA.

The restrictions outlined herein are applicable to all public and private vehicles, including motorcycles. Please review the signed parking restrictions for designated locations as detailed below and outlined in the Key for each individual map drawing.

The colours on the left indicate areas which are the subject of parking control devices.

n NO STOPPING AREA All roads within Melbourne Airport Precincts (see Drawing 1.0) are NO STOPPING areas except where signed. For security reasons ALL roads are subject to TOW AWAY provisions where vehicles are left unattended. These areas are marked in red.

n Express Pick up / Drop off For security reasons, vehicles collecting or dropping off passengers at the front of the terminals must be attended at all times. Any vehicle left unattended will be subject to an immediate fine and may be towed away. Attended vehicles can only remain in the pick-up/drop-off areas, which are marked in green, for a maximum of ONE MINUTE. Please note: Departures level (level one) is for drop off only.

n Bus Only – Permitted buses only Public buses operate from the terminal to various areas in Melbourne. ONLY buses with appropriate permits are able to access the areas marked in dark purple.

n Bus Only – Approved buses only Airport approved buses such as the SkyBus and Long Term Car Park (LTCP) courtesy bus ONLY are able to access the areas marked in violet.

n Taxi Rank – Restricted access Areas marked in yellow are taxi ranks only. ONLY registered taxis are able to access these areas. Clear signage, taxi ranks and Melbourne Airport traffic coordinators are in place to help passengers on the next leg of their journey.

n Disabled Pick up/Drop off – 5 minutes Melbourne Airport recognises and adheres to Regulation 206 of the Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997 that refers to time extensions for people with disabilities.

n Authorised Vehicles Only Melbourne Airport recognises and adheres to Regulation 206 of the Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997.

n Permit Areas Only Melbourne Airport recognises and adheres to Regulation 206 of the Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997.

n Ride Share Services – Authorised Vehicles Only Melbourne Airport recognises and adheres to Regulation 206 of the Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations 1997.

POLICE Parking Only POLICE marked parking bays are restricted for POLICE vehicles ONLY.

n Pedestrian Walkway Pedestrian crossings and walkways are indicated by ‘foot crossing’ signs and/or a zebra crossing marking. Please be mindful of vehicles and do not jump gates or enter restricted areas.

n Loading Zones Courier and delivery vehicles have designated stopping areas marked in orange. These areas are signed. Further detail is available in specific map drawings.

n Motorcycles are not permitted to park on any footpaths, walkways or in front of entry/exit doors. Motorcycles that are parked illegally will receive an infringement notice and may be towed away.
