The changes in the legisJ-at.ion were of an administrativenature and hence had little direct effect on the industry.

INNOVATIONS TO BOATS AND GEAR

Figures supplied. by the Harbour and Light Departmentsho/ed that a total of 14 rock lobster boats werereplaced during the period 1 July 1975 to 30 June 1976and ranged in length from ?.30 rnetre.s to 15.84 rnetres.The trend was towards smal-l and medium sized craftconstructed mainly of fiSre glass. There was adecreasg of 138 on the nunber of boats replaced d.uringthe s ane period in L974/75. The boat replacementswere constructed of :-
