We are writing to advise that the current system outage is continuing but we have made
some progress.

Manual payment and transfers will resume tomorrow, Monday, 18 May from 7:30
am AEST.
As previously advised, on Saturday May 9 2020, MyBudget experienced a malware incident
that caused a system outage.

We wish to reiterate that MyBudget is the target of this cyber-crime, not you.
We can assure you that clients’ money remains secure and has not been impacted.
While investigations continue, we will be providing information to help you understand the
situation and take cautionary steps to protect against potential data misuse.

Manual Payments and Transactions
While automated payments are disrupted, we are still able to:
Process payments manually from your account balance or savings
Contact creditors about payment extensions
Confirm income deposits
We are here to help, however, you must contact us on 1300 300 922, to request urgent
manual transfers or payments from your account.
Our call centre will be open from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm AEST Monday to Friday. If you join
the call queue before 7:00 pm, we have staff who will stay back to clear the queue.
Please note: Our Webchat function is available today until 6pm (AEST) for any critical
requests.
Beware of Scams
We want all of our clients to be alert, but not alarmed, to scam activity.
On a precautionary basis, we recommend all clients remain vigilant to telephone, SMS,
email and social media phishing scams requesting your personal details or the payment of
money.
Do not release any personal or banking information to any person claiming to be a
representative of MyBudget unless you have specifically contacted us or you are absolutely

confident it is a MyBudget team conducting a call-back. If you are uncertain, you can
always opt to hang up from the call and call MyBudget directly on 1300 300 922.
Avoid opening attachments from unknown senders and ensure that any communications
received from MyBudget or creditors are legitimate before responding. More details on how
to spot phishing scams is on our FAQ webpage.
What Should I Do to Protect My Information?
Although, not related to this current malware incident, we thought it might be helpful to
call out a few things you can do to protect your digital identity and personal information
online.
As part of good cyber hygiene, you should:
Change your online account passwords
Never email yourself passwords for online accounts
Enable multi-factor authentication for your online accounts, where possible
Maintain up-to-date anti-virus software on your devices

process payment requests or budget changes via those channels.
