Inversion Oxygenation, Biological Acceleration and In-Lake Wetland Filtration is the BEST WAY currently available for making your lake healthier over time – as measured by the trophic index.
Our Natural Lake Renewal Technology will:Reduce muck levels lake-wide at a cost MUCH LOWER than dredging.Reduce Blue-Green and Filamentous Algae Growth.Deliver better control of Eurasian Water Milfoil and other aquatic weeds.Control the growth of native aquatic weeds keeping a balanced, healthy level of growth.Improve the fishery.
Why Lake Savers Natural Lake Renewal™
© Lake Savers 8
Many of our project lakes have completely replaced chemical herbicides for weed and algae treatment. However, our approach is certainly not an “overnight” fix. Expect to see rapid improvement over a 60 to 90 period followed by steady improvement from then on. While we cannot promise a “weed free/algae free” lake, we can promise a healthy balanced ecosystem that supports a thriving fishery and recreational activities without the risk of sustained use of toxic chemicals.
Organic “muck” reductions of 6” to 12” per year are common for at least the first three years of the program until muck levels are below 1.5 feet in depth.
Every Lake has experienced an improvement in water clarity and fishery improvement in the first full season of operation.
In select cases an “integrated approach” may be required where herbicides are used selectively to keep areas of weed growth in check while the our program works to eliminate the problem over several seasons.

Lake Renewal Program Overview The Problem

The Crisis…
Man is a complex being: he makes deserts bloom - and lakes die
- Gil Stern
We‘re turning lakes into compost piles with water on top…
Simple Facts:As we fertilize farms and lawns…we fertilize lakes too.
Lakes have become overloaded with nutrient pollution.

MUCK is THE ROOT CAUSE of the problem…
© Lake Savers 23
Herbicides Kill weeds and send them to the bottom and build the compost pile faster! (Restoration of Lakes and Reservoirs. Cook, 2005).Weeds develop resistance to herbicides over time.Treatment costs rise while lake health declines.
Harvesting Harvesting will spread milfoil through fragmentation.Gives weeds a haircut, but studies show some species grow back even faster!Does not remove enough material to impact nutrient levels.
Conventional “Solutions” Don’t Address the Root Cause
© Lake Savers 24
Milfoil Weevils Does reduce milfoil growth, but results have been somewhat inconsistent. In lakes where nutrient levels are high other weed species often move in to fill the niche.Does not reduce nutrient levels.
Dredging Cost prohibitive!Good for removing sand and silt – not so good on “muck” – recycles nutrients into the water column and leaves a lot behind.Doesn’t break the cycle of decline.
Conventional “Solutions” Don’t Address the Root Cause

Conventional “Solutions” Don’t Address the Root Cause
Alum IS TOXIC to aquatic life!Temporarily “locks up” some phosphorus but does not actually reduce phosphorus in the system or prevent anoxia from occurring. Can reduce algae but has little effect on aquatic plants that get their nutrients from deeper in the sediment.Does NOTHING to reduce Nitrogen or organic sedimentRequires re-application often in a few years leading to further accumulation of toxic chemicals in the lake bed sediments

Our Blindingly Obvious Insight
There are only three things you need to know about Lake Management….
Nutrient Reduction, Nutrient Reduction, Nutrient Reduction
© Lake Savers 28
Reducing the Compost Pile of Nutrients at the Lake Bottom is the Fastest way to:
1. Improve Lake Health and 2. Make nuisance weed and algae growth
disappear3. Get BIGGER and MORE Fish!

Cutting-edge, natural technologies to rapidly reduce the harmful nutrients causing unwanted weeds, algae, and muck in your lake.
Lake Savers’ Four Step Lake Renewal Process
© Lake Savers 30
1. REVIVE your lake with Inversion Oxygenation. A lake can’t be healthy without oxygen
2. REPAIR the damage of nutrient pollution with Biological Augmentation.
3. PROTECT your lake with Nutrient Filtration and Common-Sense Watershed Management
4. SUSTAIN your lake’s health with our Full Service Management Program
