`Headquartered in

Birmingham, England,

Synchro Ltd began software development in 2001 on its supply chain management,

construction simulation and task management solution, and has been recognized for

its achievements in producing award-winning, innovation technology. Today

Synchro's mission remains focused on delivering software that serves the project

delivery team and survives the dynamics of everyday life in the construction

industry.

With a proven history of delivering continuous product improvements in

construction project management software, Synchro offers users a genuinely

different approach to project management by synchronising design, scheduling,

supply chain management, risk management and earned value measurement.

Synchro also has a proven track record of delivering innovative services

based on its own technology for construction project clients throughout the UK and

in 2007 a new direction began with worldwide distribution of its third generation

software product line focused on creating a sustainable end user community.

Since October 2007 we have produced an average of four major software

releases per year in support of our users' feedback and pursuit of an ever expanding

customer base. In 2010 we begin shipping our fourth generation product focused on

expanded systems interoperability, advanced data management, reporting, and the

seamless support for the large super-sized 3D/4D/5D construction models.

"It's important to remember that our journey at Synchro started with an

unwavering commitment to enable key business principles and management

techniques for project delivery: these include project delivery optimisation, the

elimination of waste, delivery synchronisation and information transparency," said

Synchro CEO, Tom Dengenis.

In the late 1990s Sir John Egan in his work, entitled Rethinking Construction,

argued that these principles and management techniques could successfully cross-

over from other industries to serve the project delivery demands of the construction

industry.

Synchro product line and offering is strengthened by key technology

development agreements with Oracle Primavera, Google SketchUp, Bentley

Systems, Autodesk, Objectivity, Asta, Design Data, and TechSoft3D. These strategic

relationships offer customers the right ingredients to leverage existing legacy

software investments and extend benefits beyond information silos, which

commonly exist between well-formed, industry processes.

Synchro's product line has a deep, steadfast commitment to enable an

integrated project process around the key elements of construction development,

including project delivery strategy and tactical planning, supply chain collaboration

and production tracking, and how the pre-engineered manufactured components

enter and improve the process. In keeping with Sir John's vision with Synchro as

part of your delivery process: "Sustained improvements in project using these

techniques for eliminating waste and increasing value for the customer are more

possible now than ever before." There is one undisputed truth when working with

Synchro; “You will make more money on your projects using Synchro. “ said

Dengenis, “We also know that when the entire project uses Synchro the cost of

delivery is more predictable. Problems are discovered virtually and can be

eliminated before they enter field conditions. That means your project runs smoother

and more efficient for everyone engaged.”

Our aim is clear: to deliver software to serve the construction delivery team

and survives the everyday dynamics and demands of the construction industry. We

see construction as a series of problems to be solved. Our software goes right to the

heart of that challenge -- enabling users to explore options, manage solutions and

optimise results.

It takes just a few minutes to understand how Synchro, a Stand-alone

Planning and Scheduling system delivers unparalleled value. Our Critical Path

Analysis built on our proprietary scheduling engine supports traditional planning

and scheduling methods using the logical network diagram to drive the 4D/5D

process. We alone support complete roundtrip data synchronisation with the top

CPM scheduling platforms, used in construction today, designed to support our

users existing investments and established workflows using Oracle Primavera,

Microsoft Office Project and Asta PowerProject.

Our advanced 3D/4D/5D viewing includes traditional reporting, custom

3D/4D/5D animation and advanced AVI production. Our federated Object

Oriented Database Systems Architecture focused on data integration, reusable

project and component libraries, and support for the ever increasing 3D model size

to xD models envisioned by the industry. We uniquely enable IFC (Industry

Foundation Classes) Synchronisation (including 3D Import, Export, Synchronise To,

Synchronise From) to facilitate IFC based work flows for both upstream and

downstream processes. If that isn’t enough to support the delivery process, Synchro

is also leading the industry with 4D Spatial Coordination for static and dynamic

project orchestration, analysis and resolution management.

Synchro Ltd brings award-winning, 4D BIM software to construction

companies globally for building, civil infrastructure, roads, bridges, healthcare, high-

rise towers, industrial process, oil and gas, alternative energy and mining. 28 of the

Top 50 Contractors in the USA and over 200 worldwide use Synchro.

Case Study

Client: Turner Construction

Project: Sacramento International Airport's Terminal B

In April 2008 Turner Construction competed to win the $286 million new airside concourse

project, which includes 19 gates and numerous international arrival services. The 40 year-old

Terminal B modernisation project began in order to meet the rising demand for passenger

services and enhance the ability of the airport to attract new carriers and routes.

The Client: Sacramento County Airport Systems. The Main Contractor: Turner Construction Corporation is the leading general builder in the U.S., ranking first or second in the major segments of the building construction field. During 2007, Turner completed $9.6 billion of construction. Turner is the only builder offering clients a nationwide network of offices across the U.S. Founded in 1902, the firm is a subsidiary of HOCHTIEF. For more information, visit Turner's website at www.turnerconstruction.com. Why Does 4D Work?

Turner wanted to demonstrate to the owner that they had capability to fit scheduling around phasing.

Turner wanted to make clear to the client and owner, within their one hour interview how to visualize Turner's resource allocation system, which was not a bell curve, but rather a steep mountain of manpower requirements, to be climbed fast Synchro enabled Turner to clearly visualise the schedule and utilise the unique features of the software, before presenting to the client. While in the presentation Synchro clearly

showed Turner’s strengths in overcoming critical risks inherent in the project in dynamic, interactive, and real-time fashion.

In the interview as the owner argued for their preferred but different phasing, Synchro could change it in real-time and show how phasing was risk and cost-connected.

Turner also wanted to increase communications with the owner to help them visualize problems early.

The software provided clear, visual scheduling of the construction 4D modelling. The 4D simulation became a powerful tool to demonstrate resource needs to the owner.

What Synchro Ltd Provided:

Conversion of 2D drawings into a 3D construction model technical support

4D/5D simulation and planning support

Technical and user support during the competitive bid process

Training of the Project Management and Business Development Team

The Outcome:

Synchro became an efficient tool for project delivery problem solving and also allowed Turner to simulate efficiently in the design phase to prevent the following problems during the building phase:

Synchro visualized and avoided the need to move thousands of feet of airport security fence four times during the life of the project.

Synchro simulated how one crane instead of two would be sufficient to help assure the crane's height and boom was correct. It allowed for less congestion in the construction area and increased safety for the workers as well as lowering costs.

Synchro revealed the need for an unplanned but critically necessary temporary road for construction traffic to keep essential airside operations flowing and functional.

Synchronized an optimal paving schedule to prevent blocking the runway for planes to the terminal for 32 days.

Improved work site zones and phasing sequences with a specific emphasis on safety for workers onsite.

The financial and time-tabling benefits of such advantages clearly demonstrate why 4D works and how Synchro's remarkable value is a valued tool for today's complex construction industry.

"We rely heavily on field staff to present solutions during the bidding presentation. They had done the work and knew the job best. With Synchro, we placed them in the best position to be successful. The Synchro simulation was a successful tool in helping Turner attain success," said Ken Harms. "Synchro helped us communicate efficiently in order to achieve our goals. We had all the data but we needed to understand how to communicate it effectively with our client and come out the winner!"
