the new chassis. First, you need to obtain the IPMI settings so that you can record them and

reset them later.

Step 1 Connect the NetBackup 5000 to a keyboard and monitor.

Before you turn on the device, connect the power cable to the device and wait for at

least 1 minute. Otherwise, the IPMI IP address might not be display on the self-test

screen.

Step 2 Press the Power button on the rear of the cabinet to power on the NetBackup 5000.

Step 3 On the system self-test page, the IPMI IP address is displayed, as shown in Figure 1-1.

In this section, the following procedures use the IPMI IP address: 192.168.0.10 as an

example.

Figure 1-1 IPMI IP address displayed on the system self-test page

Step 4 Record the IP Address, Subnet Mask and GateWay.

The two can ping each other.

1.4 Removing and replacing a chassis The following steps describe the physical process of replacing a faulty chassis with a new

chassis. Refer to detailed instructions in the NetBackup 5000 Troubleshooting Guide as

needed.

CAUTION: The NetBackup 5000 is supported by two power supplies.

Do not open the chassis when the power is on.

Turn off both of the power supplies when turning off the NetBackup 5000.

NOTES: Symantec does not support the removal and replacement of the CPU on the

mainboard.

Symantec does not support the removal of cables from the mainboard or

replacement of the mainboard separately from the chassis.

Step 1 Wear ESD-preventive clothes, an ESD-preventive wrist strap, or ESD-preventive

gloves.

Step 2 Turn off the NetBackup 5000 and any peripheral equipment.

Step 3 Disconnect the NetBackup 5000 from the power sources and peripheral equipment.

Label all cables so that you can replace them in the same places in the new chassis.

Step 4 Unscrew the chassis from the rack posts and smoothly pull the NetBackup 5000 out of
