ABOUT THE SESSIONS MEET THE AUTHORSPlease arrive at 9.30am for a 10.00am start.

We recommend students bring their own lunch.

Hello and welcome to the Sydney Writers’ Festival 2015 Primary School Days program.

I am absolutely thrilled to present this year’s line-up of hand-picked local and international children’s authors. Join us as we bring literature to life with everyone’s favourite funny man Andy Griffiths, inimitable author-illustrator Leigh Hobbs, much-loved writer Jacqueline Harvey, and international bestselling author, Anthony Horowitz.

School Days is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with their favourite authors, discover exciting new voices and be inspired in a fun, educational and interactive day. In these hugely popular sessions, writers and illustrators perform, read from their work, talk about their craft and take questions from the audience.

We look forward to seeing you.

Jeanmarie MorosinHead of Children’s Programs

His most popular works include the JUST! series, The Day My Bum Went Psycho, The Bad Book, The Very Bad Book and The Treehouse series, most of which have been illustrated by comic genius Terry Denton. As well as winning over 50 Australian children’s choice awards, Andy and Terry have received the Australian Book Industry Award three years in a row for The 13-Storey Treehouse, The 26-Storey Treehouse and The 39-Storey Treehouse. Leigh Hobbs works across a wide range of artistic media, but is best known for his children’s books featuring Old Tom, Horrible Harriet, Mr Badger and Mr Chicken. Mr Chicken Goes to Paris was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards and the Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards, and is a bestseller at Paris’s Louvre Bookshop. Since childhood, Leigh has had a passion for art, architecture, classical music, English history ... and London, a place he finds endlessly fascinating and visits regularly. He admits there’s something of himself in each of his characters and says his most recent book, Mr Chicken Lands on London, could, in a way, be seen as a love story.
