47 SWINE RULES AND REGULATIONS Hogs must be in place by 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13 General and general livestock rules and regulations apply to this department. 1. All participants must meet FSQA requirements. 2. A maximum of eight hogs may be weighed at spring weigh in with a maximum weight of 54 lbs. to be eligible to exhibit at the county fair. Tags inserted at the weigh-in must be present to qualify for weight division classes. Hogs losing ear tags may be entered in a “No-Tag” class, but are not eligible for further recognition. All barrows must have been castrated prior to the weigh-in. 3. Pre-registration is required through fairentry.com. 4. ***New this year*** Swine stall fees are $5/pen. The fee is payable through the Fair Entry system or a check payable to the Henry County Fair Board can be left at the Henry County Extension Office. Pre-registration will not be completed until payment is received. 5. Each exhibitor may bring and show up to 4 different hogs as follows: a. All hogs must go to harvest facility after show. MARKET SWINE CLASSESDerby Division 263 Classes: 26300 Live Derby 26350 Derby Carcass

b. Each exhibitor may show a maximum of 3 animals per class in the market gilt, market barrow class or derby gilt/barrow class. If four hogs are brought to fair at least one must be exhibited in the derby gilt/barrow class. Market classes will be split by ending weight. Derby classes will be split by weight at beginning weigh-in.

c. Each exhibitor is encouraged to enter a gilt or barrow in the derby carcass contest. Any gilt/barrow weighed in during March is eligible for this class. This gilt/barrow will show in division 263 only. Carcass placings will be based on a formula established by the swine committee using Lean Gain on Test formula. An approximate charge of $15.00 will be deducted from each Derby Carcass gilt/barrow check to cover the expense of loin measurement, trucking, and insurance. Checks can be expected within three weeks.

6. No oil may be used on hogs. Animals which have been clipped either prior to the fair or while on the fairgrounds will be EXCUSED.

7. All swine entries should weigh a minimum of 220 pounds, otherwise exhibitors may expect a large docking charge

8. Classes will be determined by the committee. 9. No premiums paid for ribbons10. All Exhibitors are eligible to participate in the ribbon auction.

COMPETITIVE SWINE PROJECT RULES AND REGULATIONS

Hogs must be in place by 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13

All Hogs will be vaccinated for erysipelas.1. Rules #1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 from the Swine Rules & Regulations apply.2. Participants will sign up for this project by March 1, and pay a non-refundable $10 per

head deposit for up to four pigs. A maximum of 20 members may participate. 3. Participants will purchase up to four head of pigs from a common source determined

annually by the swine committee. All pigs will be from the same producer. Pigs will be weighed, ear tagged, and vaccinated for several diseases prior to pick-up.

4. All pigs will be selected randomly at pick up time by pulling pig tag numbers from a hat. Participants will pay the remaining balance due for their pigs at that time.

5. Entrants in this class will not be eligible to show either these pigs or other pigs in the regular 4-H swine show.

6. Participants may bring a maximum of four pigs to the fair with at least one of them being shown as a derby class entrant. The derby entrant will be the pig used in the formula that decides the overall champion of class # 26402.

7. The other three pigs (optional) will be shown in market class # 26401 with the champion and reserve competing for Grand Champion Market Swine at the Henry County Fair.

8. The Champion competitive gilt will show for champion overall gilt.9. The champion competitive barrow will show for champion overall barrow.10. Placings in class #26402 will be based on three factors:
