En la década de los 90 Victoriano Churo y Cirildo Chacari-to corredores rarámuris, fueron invitados a competencias internacionales de ultramaratón en las que obtuvieron di-versos campeonatos y acapararon las miradas de los me-jores corredores del mundo que, atónitos, veían a un par de ancianos de largos vestidos floreados y llantas como calzado, romper los récords e imponer una nueva manera de correr. Hoy estos dos grandes corredores continúan la carrera sin aspiraciones de fama y gloria, pero con la única esperanza de resistir cada día al lado de su familia y esperando el suministro que la tierra pueda ofrecerles año con año. Ahora es tiempo que las nuevas generacio-nes de corredores alcancen sus propios sueños.

In the 90’s Rarámuri runners, Victoriano Churo and Cirildo Chacarito, were invited to participate in several international ultra-marathon competitions. Abroad they won championships and impressed the running world by imposing a new style of running. Endurance running became part of a new age group that wore flowered garments and tires as footwear. Today these two great runners continue the race without aspirations of fame, but with the hope that they will resist another day beside their family. It will now be the turn of their children to continue to carry their cultural heritage as some of the best sportsmen in the world.

Realice estudios en ciencias de la comunicación, lenguajes audiovisuales y fotografía. Poste-riormente he cursado talleres y diplomados sobre diferentes ramas del cine documental. He sido becario del fondo nacional para la cultura y las artes, entre otras instituciones culturales. Colabore en distintos proyectos como fotógrafo o editor y en la dirección he realizado algunos videos de do-cumental experimental. Actualmente soy parte del colectivo que realiza la Muestra Internacional de Cine Independiente Oftálmica en Xalapa Veracruz. Pies Ligeros es mi opera prima.
I completed studies in communication, audiovisual languages, and photography. Consequently I have partici-pated in workshops and certificate courses within the field of documentary. I was a awarded a scholarship by the national funds for the culture and arts, among other cultural institutions. I have collaborated in different projects as a photographer, editor and under my direction I have created several experimental documenta-ries. Currently I am part of the collective the Independent Film Exhibition Oftalmica in Xalapa Veracruz. Pies Ligeros is my Opera Prima.

Realice estudios en Filosofía y Ciencias Sociales en la Universidad de California, San Diego. Actualmente estoy trabajando en una disertación que aborda cuestiones de metodología e identi-dad Occidental durante la producción fílmica de culturas no Occidentales. Mis intereses en artes visuales abordan los géneros documental, videos etnográfico e experimental. Actualmente imparto clases de Estudios Multiculturales en Palomar College, San Marcos, CA. Pies Ligeros es mi mas reciente colaboración fílmica (2016).
I have a BA and MA both from UCSD within the field of Philosophy and Social Sciences. Currently I am wor-king on a dissertation that seeks to address questions of methodology and Western identity when producing visual representations of none-Western cultures. My film interests fall along the genera of documentary, film ethnography, and experimental. I am currently an instructor at Palomar College, San Marcos, CA. Pies Ligeros is my latest film collaboration (2016).
