INTRODUCTION

A career in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy offers people from all walks of life an

excellent opportunity to start their own profitable business, either working from home,

mobile, in a salon or health spa.

Being in complete control of the amount of hours you work, leaves plenty of time to

meet family commitments without disturbing normal daily routine. Earnings in excess

of £27.00 an hour can easily be achieved.

Many of our students have never been involved in the Hair & Beauty industry before

and can find the thought of studying slightly intimidating. Our team of highly qualified

tutors are available to give as much help and support to each student as required.

On-going support is available to all of our students. Either via telephone, email or

popping in to chat about any problems that may arise.

We only teach in small groups of students at any given time, because it's of the utmost

importance to give each individual the attention they need to achieve a high level of

competence during their time of training.

Once training is completed each student will feel confident and motivated enough to

take the first steps towards creating an income from their new skills.

We provide the practical ‘hands-on’ approach and all materials used during training

are free of charge.

As you can see the average wage is around £27.00 per hour. It does take a little while

to build up a client base but once this has been achieved you can earn a substantial

amount from beauty therapy.

THE HAIRDRESSING INDUSTRY

Hairdressing is one of the skills that is widely recognised as being perfectly suited

to self-employment. It is also virtually recession-proof, people will always need

their hair cutting, even if they choose to cut back on other treatments.

Hair grows, no matter what a person’s financial situation. How many people do

you know that will leave their hair very long before they have at least a trim? Not

many people will allow their grey hair to grow too long before getting it coloured.

Hairdressers are ideally placed to build a life and a career for themselves, that is

solely dependant on their own skills and efforts.

Mobile Hairdressing has become more popular in recent years, one factor which

has changed the public’s perception of mobile hairdressing, is the changes in our

busy 21st Century lifestyles. With the current Credit Crunch, the mobile hairdresser

does not have the same overheads to pass on that a Salon has and there are always

clients who prefer to have their hair done at home.

Many working mothers find that being able to have the whole family’s hair done at

home in the evening or weekend is a huge bonus, saving both time, effort and

DIPLOMAS

Once students have successfully completed their training course(s) they are awarded

with a Professional Diploma, which qualifies them to offer treatments to paying clients.

We are a registered school with The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists for

membership and professional indemnity insurance.

The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists is one of the largest Trade Associations

for Beauty Therapists in the UK. All students will be able to advertise their businesses

completely FREE of charge. A monthly magazine is also issued to keep members up to

date with industry news.

WE ARE AN APPROVED VTCT NVQ CENTRE

For those that wish to progress further, NVQ levels 1, 2 & 3 qualifications are

available in many subjects.

All final examinations are currently held in Norwich Norfolk.

We concentrate on the practical aspects of our courses. All students will be required to

take a short test at the end of each course; this is to ensure they have an understanding

of the subject taught. Assessments are conducted throughout the training day by the

tutor. Should you fail to complete a course successfully, we will provide extra tuition

completely free of charge. Study periods may be done at leisure using the fully

comprehensive training manuals provided. Help and support is available as required.

ASSESSMENT DAYS

Students wishing to be privately assessed on any of the courses taken may do so by

appointment with their tutor, a fee of £35.00 is required. Once the assessment date is

given students will be asked to bring a model and their equipment if required.

ACCOMMODATION

We are able to provide information on secure guest houses for students wishing to stay

during duration the of the course. Please ask for details.

FEES Course fees are per person but discounts are available for 2 or more students

wishing to book together on the same day.

Deposits are required for each course booked. They are non-refundable and non-

transferable.

EYELASH/BROW TINTING/SHAPING:

Eyelash tinting enhances the appearance of the eyes, this being one of your most

important features. Tinting the hairs makes them appear darker and thicker, thus

eliminating the need for mascara. Tinting & shaping the eyebrows, creates a natural

frame for the eyes and can help to widen the appearance of the eye making you look

more awake.






EYELASH PERMING:

‘Open your clients eyes’ without using mascara by introducing them to this exciting

cosmetic procedure, will make the lashes look wider and longer.

Eyelashes are curled by using a mini roller and mild perming solution, will last up to 3

months.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS:

A new and exciting therapy that is taking the beauty industry by storm.

Lashes are available in a variety of lengths, colours and thickness and are selected to

suit the client’s requirements. The lashes are bonded to the client’s natural lashes

using a special adhesive. The finished look is stunning – the lashes look longer, thicker

and totally natural thus enhancing the appearance of the eyes. The effect lasts for 8-12

weeks with the client returning every two weeks for maintenance.

EYEBROW THREADING:

Threading is a precise and painless way to shape unruly eyebrows.

It is an ancient method of hair removal originating from Asia. Predominantly used to

shape eyebrows and remove hair from sensitive areas such as the upper lip. A piece of

thread is twisted and used to entwine and ease out hair from the root. Usually the

cotton thread is wound between the hands in a particular way, the threader then holds

the loose end between their teeth and uses it to pluck out the hairs swiftly and precisely.

This is an effective way to shape eyebrows and gives a precise and defined finish than

waxing or plucking.

You are taught how to use a mixture of fibreglass/silk and resin. This is quite a hard-

SCULPTURED NAIL EXTENSIONS:

Although this is quite a difficult technique to master, acrylic sculpturing can save time,

as there is no tip blending involved.

HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS

WAXING:

Wax depilation provides a quick and efficient way of clearing small and large areas of

unwanted hair. This is a very popular treatment particularly during the summer

months. The clients skin will be left feeling smooth and silky. The treatment lasts

between 4 – 6 weeks.

This course is only available to those who have completed a waxing course.

Using the hot wax method for hair removal, very effective for coarse deep-rooted hair.

Hot wax adheres to the hair but not to the skin, therefore eliminating any sticky

AROMATHERAPY BODY MASSAGE:

This course is only available to those who have completed an Anatomy & Physiology

certificate.

Aromatherapy is a therapeutic use of odoriferous substances obtained from flowers,

plants and aromatic shrubs. Not only can it be used to treat and cure illness it can also

prevent an illness arising.

Combined with a relaxing massage the stroking action activates the nerve endings and

stimulates the circulation of blood to the surface of the skin, thereby easing the entry of

the oils.

EAR CANDLES (THERMO-AURICULAR THERAPY)

An excellent method of removing unwanted build up of wax from the ears using a

REFLEXOLOGY:

This course is only available to those who have completed an Anatomy and Physiology

certificate.

Most people will know something about reflexology and consider it to be a diagnostic

and therapeutic method, which involves working on the feet.

Pressure is applied to the soles of the feet by the thumbs and fingers. This is the key to

revealing where imbalances lie and play a vital role in the enhancement of general

health and well being.





INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE:

A relaxing soothing massage designed especially for the scalp, face, upper back, neck

sitting position. Ideal for those therapists working on a mobile basis, who may be

This course is only available to those who have completed a Body Massage Course.

HAIRDRESSING NVQ

We offer NVQ Levels 1, 2, 3 in all aspects of Hairdressing

For those who wish to progress further by taking an NVQ qualification, we are a

registered training academy with VTCT( Vocational Training Charitable Trust)

Course tutors will give students back up and training support, whilst completing theory

and practical training.

During training students gain knowledge and experience, leading to a nationally

recognised qualification, giving them the confidence and competence to carry out all

services effectively.

We try to limit out training to only small groups, no more than 6 at a time. This way we

feel we can give a more individual level of tuition.

All students will be required to complete written assessments and exams for each unit

covered.

On successful completion of the course the student will be offered their NVQ

qualification.

Duration: 10 days Once a week over 10 weeks
