Notice is hereby given that the Newport CityCouncil in exercise of its powers under the RoadTrafic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) intendsnot less than seven days from the date of thisnotice to make an order the effect of which will beto prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along:

1. Catsash Rd from its junction with Belmont Hillto its junction with Roman Rd (east of A449overbridge)

2. Bulmore Rd from its junction with New Rd/Belmont Hill to its junction with Abernant Rd.

The alternative routes are via:

1. Royal Oak Hill – B4237/A48 Chepstow Road– Catsash Rd and vice versa

2. Belmont Hill – Royal Oak Hill – B4237/A48Chepstow Rd and vice versa.

The reason for making the order is to enableessential carriageway maintenance works tobe undertaken on roads too narrow to maintainvehicular trafic, and to enable golf tournamentsto take place on two separate occasions insafety, to reduce congestion and to ensure safeconditions along the adjacent highway.

The proposed order will be operative from 9 June2014 and will continue in force for a period notexceeding eighteen months or until the workswhich it is proposed to carry out have beencompleted, whichever is the earlier.

Vehicular access will be maintained for residentsof the affected roads; pedestrian access andemergency vehicle access will be available;exemptions will be available for vehiclesdisplaying permits issued by the Celtic ManorResort for each of the goling events.

It is anticipated that the closures for the golftournaments will be in effect at the followingtimes: Catsash Rd (1 above) : 6am to 10pmfrom 4 July to 6 July 2014 inclusive CatsashRd and Bulmore Rd (1 and 2 above) : 6amto 10pm from 15 to 21 September 2014inclusive.
