At Rettir time,
On one day in the year in Iceland, in September, the sheep owners bring their animals back to circular folds and pens. Then, they sort and recuperate their sheep.
It is an extremely important day in Icelandic life, very anchored in the national folklore.The day before, all the far-mers in a region traverse the land on horseback and start to bring back the sheep. The next day, the sorting begins. The sheep are herded into circular folds divided into small sections, a section for each owner. Upon its arrival into the fold, the sheep, mar-ked, goes to its owner’s zone. The sorting takes all day. Meanwhile, the hunt for the sheep dispersed in the countryside continues.

In answer to the question put to Neil Amstrong upon his re-turn to Earth: “What does the moon look like?”, he replied “Iceland”!An utter change of scenery, an initiatory journey back to the origins of the world: the use of superlatives is not out of place here where beauty and force are united.
