SVARTVIT Last update: 03-22-2013 BIOGRAPHY EN Svartvit is a Dutch harsh noise project that was started in 2008 by sound artist Kevin Jansen. Through the years the project has evolved both in presentation and sound. Starting of as a very monotonous study in textural noises it has turned into a direct channeling of anger, frustration and the questioning of modern day society through sound & performance. Svartvit takes influences from a wide spectrum including but definitely not limited to; Vienna Aktionism, socio-political topics, underground punk music, Russian constructivism as well as his contemporaries like Sword Heaven, The Rita, Prurient & Vomir. The result is a very personal and emotional presentation of a troubled mind, overtaking and often physical. Everything is presented with a down to earth approach that takes its ethics from a background in DIY punk culture & Anarchism.

Releases have appeared on labels all over the world on both CD and Cassette, some Vinyl is planned for the near future. Through the years Svartvit has built quite a reputation for himself. Aggressive and spectacular live shows that aren’t to be missed, appearing all over Europe and even embarking on a month long tour for the first time in the summer of 2011. After that followed a 9-day tour of NL/BE/FR/UK, a weeklong tour of Germany and recently a 12-day trip to England and Scotland. Future plans included revisiting most of these countries and making a trip over to Canada and the USA.

NL Svartvit is een Nederlands harsh noise project door geluidskunstenaar Kevin Jansen dat sinds 2008 actief is. Door de jaren heeft het project zowel geluid als presentatie een ontwikkeling doorgemaakt. Ooit begonnen als een monotone studie naar geluidstexturen maar tegenwoordig vooral een vertoning van frustratie die de huidige samenleving in twijfel trekt via geluid en performance. Beinvloed door een breed spectrum van onder andere maar zeker niet gelimiteerd tot; Weens Aktionisme, sociale & politieke onderwerpen, underground punk muziek, Russisch constructivisme maar ook zijn tijdgenoten zoals Sword Heaven, The Rita, Prurient & Vomir. Het resultaat is een zeer persoonlijke en emotionele presentatie van een gekwelde ziel, overheersend en vaak fysiek. Alles wordt gebracht met een nuchtere houding die zijn ethiek haalt uit een achtergrond in de DIY punk cultuur en Anarchisme.

Uitgaves zijn verschenen op labels over de hele wereld op zowel CD als Cassette, er staat zelfs Vinyl gepland voor de nabije toekomst. Door de jaren heen heeft Svartvit een reputatie op weten te bouwen, overal in Europa te bezichtigen en in de zomer van 2011 zelfs voor het eerst een maand op tour geweest. Daarna volgde een 9-daagse trip door NL/BE/FR/UK, een 6-daagse tour door Duitsland en recentelijk een 12-daagse tour door Engeland en Schotland. Agressieve en spectaculaire live shows die niet te missen zijn.
