We’re here to help ~ mum-2-mum The Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) is a national volunteer association that aims to help, support and educate mothers who wish to breastfeed their babies. We believe all mothers have the right to up-to-date, evidence-based information so that they can make informed decisions.
New and expectant mums Breastfeeding, while natural, is a
learned skill, so come along to one of our meetings to help you get off to the right start with information and knowledge.
If this is your first bulletin we would especially like to welcome you!
Our local volunteer breastfeeding counsellors are trained, qualified, bound by a Code of Ethics mothers who have breastfed their babies for at least 6 months. All counselling is confidential and provided on a voluntary basis.
We are available to discuss breastfeeding issues or answer enquiries at group meetings or via phone. We are all busy mothers so if you are unable to reach us and need immediate counselling please call our Breastfeeding Helpline which is available 24/7.
The National Breastfeeding Helpline is supported by funding from the Australian Government

Group Library Corner Our group has a great collection of books and DVDs in our library. Members may borrow items for one month. We have items available that cover breastfeeding, sleeping, crying, toilet training and general parenting. Library items are available to borrow at our group meetings. One of our latest additions to the library is this book: ‘Working and Breastfeeding Made Simple.’
Breastfeeding Friendly Communities
A mother has the legal right to breastfeed her baby anywhere and whenever she needs. Look for places in the Shire displaying ‘Breastfeeding Welcome Here‘ stickers; these places have promised a welcoming attitude from staff, a smoke-free environment and room to move a pram. Special Meeting Details Babies Day Out– Breastfeeding in Public. October 24 ABA invites all Australians to celebrate babies and the very special place they have in our community. The annual Baby’s Day Out weekend, 22-23 October, 2016 is designed to celebrate our babies’ place in the community and their right to be breastfed anywhere, anytime. Baby’s Day Out is an event for the whole community. At our group meeting we will be celebrating the occasion on Monday 24 October “out and about” in the Shire. This event is normally held in a local park. More details to following in our email updates.
