PROFESSOR MARGARET ALSTON (OAM)

Margaret Alston founding member of Australian Women in Agriculture (AWiA) now a Professor of Social Work in the School of Humanities and Social Science Prior to moving to University of Newcastle Margaret was Professor of Social Work and Head of Department at Monash University where in 2008 she established the Gender Leadership and Social Sustainability (GLASS) research unit

In 2010 Margaret was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to rural women and to social work Margaretrsquos main areas of research are gender climate environmental disasters rural women and social work Margaret has undertaken a number of research projects across the Asia-Pacific region and within Australia on these topics and published several books

Kim DeansKim is a Regenerative Agriculture Coach with Integrity Soils based in Australia Kim has been implementing regenerative agricultural practices for over 15 years and is passionate about empowering farmers to improve their businesses and lives through improving soil healthKim has 30 years of experience in agriculture in farm management dryland and irrigated crop production livestock production farm business and financial management and is an experienced coach trainer and facilitator Kim draws on training and personal experiences in regenerative agriculture holistic management permaculture farm business management and self- development

GLENN MORRIS

Glenn completed a Masters in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Sydney where his thesis quantified the water holding capacity of humus

Following discussions with expert Australian soil scientists Glenn became critically aware of the importance of increasing carbon levels in the soil through carbon sequestration Glennrsquos focus was on the potential role of soil carbon to deliver a solution to the increasing carbon levels in the atmosphere

Glenn Morris is the General Manager of FigTrees Organic Farms based at Inverell and Grafton and in 2013 won the State Landcare Award for Innovation in Sustainable Farm Practices

In 2016 Glenn was nominated as one of three finalists for the prestigious Bob Hawke Landcare Award for championing the - The Landcare Ethic lsquoA philosophy influencing how people live as part of the landscape while taking care of the Landrsquo
