Blossom Protect contains highly competitive microorganisms which block the fi re blightpathogen, Erwinia amylovora, from colonizing the blossoms. This biopesticide productinhibits the fi re blight pathogen throughnatural competition for space and nutrients on the blossom. Blossom Protect aggressivelycolonizes the nectaries of the fl owerblocking the site of fi re blight infection.Blossom Protect acts as a competitiveantagonist and does not directly attack the metabolism of the fi re blight pathogen so there is no risk of developing resistance, even with frequent applications.

ApplicAtion
If a forecast system (e.g. Maryblyt or Cougar Blight) is available, apply Blossom Protect the day before predicted fire blight infection conditions. Blossom Protect can be rotated with streptomycin.
According to phenology: Apply up to 4 times at 10, 40, 70 and 90% open blossoms (BBCH 61-69).
Application rate: Blossom Protect is a Twin Pack containing the active ingredient and a buffer. Combine Component B (1.5 kg) together with Component A (10.5 kg) of Blossom Protect in 1,000 L water/ha (for 2 m crown height).
Low-volume spraying is possible with agitation (reduction up to 180 L water/ha for 2 m crown height) as long as consistent treatment is assured. Keep the application rate of 1.5 kg/ha Component B + 10.5 kg/ha Component A.

BloSSom protEct™ BiotEcHnoloGicAl BActEriciDE
Blossom Protect is a highly effective plant
protection product used to fight fire blight in
pome fruit. Fire blight, which is caused by the
bacterium Erwinia amylovora, is one of the
most damaging and pervasive diseases in
pome fruit (apple, pear and quince). This highly
infectious bacterial disease typically attacks the
tree through the blossoms during the flowering
period and can rapidly damage whole trees and
orchards if not preventively protected.
