Celebrating what grows in our gardens. Flower Garden Tour Sunday, July 8, 1-4pm Visit of 7 area flower gardens. Plein air painters will be present at some locations. $10 per ticket.
Vegetable Garden TourSunday, July 22, 1-4pmAn interactive visit of the Applegate’s homestead in Virgil. Chris Applegate is the organizer of the Virgil Farmers’ Market and a long time organic gardener. Tour will include a visit of her vegetable garden (with chickens and pigs!), greenhouses, root cellar, a workshop, and local refreshments. Guided tours at 1:30 and 3pm with discussion at 2:30pm.$20 per ticket.
Community Garden Tour Sunday, August 12, 1-4pm Visit of 5-7 area Community Gardens, including the Homer Community Garden, Beaudry Park Youth Bureau Garden and the gardens at Lime Hollow Nature Center.Kid’s activities, music and refreshments at some locations. $5 per ticket (or $10 per family)

“A Taste of Autumn” is a celebration of local, seasonal foods. This celebration of local tastes is a great way for individuals and families to sample the best that local farmers and businesses have to offer.
From 10am to noon there will be a cooking demonstration centered around mushrooms and other local treasures with Tim Baroni in the downstairs kitchen of the Congregational Church on the Green. Tickets are $10.
From 11am to 1pm participants can experience a variety of tastes, including 5 delicious tasting samples on the Green featuring Homer Farmers' Market meat, produce and baked goods (Green Tickets).
From 11am to 2pm participants can sample a selection of 10+ samples prepared by local businesses downtown (Red tickets). Tickets for both tastings are $7. While supplies last.

Oh My Goodness Health Food Store, opened in the spring of 2010, and is now the leading locally-owned retail provider of local and organic foods in Cortland County. Sample Maple Hill Yogurt paired with Mu Mu Muesli.
A Community EventA Taste of Autumn - Participants
Dasher’s Corner Pub, opened in August 2012, rekindling the ambiance of the historic establishment. It is exclusively using produce from Main Street Farms and Dave’s Veggies, both in Homer, when available.
Look for local talapia on their menu in the fall!
Lucky Kitchen, Homer’s only Chinese restaurant, will be offering samples as well.
Cookin’ on Wheels, Cortland’s newest food truck, will be offering samples of their famous crepe-hotcakes with a pumpkin filling.

The Brewster House will be hosting a kids’ cooking demonstration, details TBA.
The Homer Farmers’ Market is celebrating their third season on the Green. In their tent on the Green, Chef Andew Burke, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will serve unique dishes featuring fresh local meats (pork, chicken, beef and lamb), vegetables, fruit and cheeses provided by the vendors. Visitors will be able to chat with the chef and pick up copies of his recipes.
Main Street Farms, celebrating its first full season up and running, is the area’s only aquaponics farm. They will be displaying their mini-aquaponics system and explaining how fish grow their vegetables.

Berry Farm, located in Genoa, is a local producer of organic meats, oil and other products. Sample their certified organic beef sausage with local crackers made using their oil; and their homemade blender mayonnaise and potato chips.

Hunter & HiLsberg has been a purveyor of gourmet foods made from all-natural and locally sourced ingredients since 1995. Their family farm, located in Scott, is completely off-grid, generating electricity only from wind and solar power. Sample their Hot Pepper Jelly, Wicked Hot Raspberry Habeñero Sauce, Hot & Spicy Cranberry Spread, as well as traditional preserves and jellies: Elderberry, Black Currant, Blueberry, Raspberry, Cherry, and Strawberry. Their all-natural cheesecake mixes will also be available for purchase. * Find them in front of OMG! The arrows highlight a few ways our local food economy flows.

Dr. Tim Baroni, distinguished professor of Biological Sciences, collects and studies mushrooms across the globe. He is also known to be very accomplished at cooking with mushrooms.
Dr. Baroni will demonstrate how to prepare several elegant mushroom dishes that participants will enjoy at a reception following the preparation.

Tour Highlights: Northland Sheep Dairy: Visit this small, 100% grass based farm that produces handmade sheep cheese. Come learn from Maryrose, the shepherd and cheesemaker, and Donn, who works with his team of draft horses and mules.
Cold Brook Farm: Visit this small (less than 12) hand spinner's flock of Rambouillet cross sheep, and learn about Tammie’s hand processing of fine wool from sheep to garment.
Home of Jean and Jim Weiss: Visit their homestead and learn about building with native materials (wood, stone...), earth sheltering in building construction, passive solar, solar/wood domestic hot water, and putting up food for winter storage
