    3mm Knitting needles

    Double knitting wool in greeny/yellow I used Sirdar snuggly dk honey 0358

    Oddments of grey and black for embroidery

    Tapestry needle

    Good quality toy stuffing

    Abbreviations

    CO Cast on

    K: Knit

    P: Purl

    st(s): Stitch(es)

    beg: Beginning

    tog: Together

    inc1: Increase one by knitting into the front and back of the stitch

    K2tog: Knit two stitches together

    st-st :Stocking stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl)

    B & T: Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread through remaining stitches on needle, draw up tightly and

    fasten off.

    Body & Head (one piece)

    Cast on 4 sts work in stocking stitch throughout.

    St st 6 rows, beg with a K row

    (Inc1,K1) twice (6)

    St st 7 rows

    (k1,inc1, k1) twice (8)

    St st 7 rows(K1, inc1, k2) twice (10)

    continue without increases until work measures at least 6inches (15cm)

    Begin head shaping

    (k1,inc1,k3) twice (12)

    Purl

    K2,(inc1)x2 K3 (inc1)x2 K3 (16) The increases on this row will be placement for the eyes.

    Stst 3 rows

    (K2, K2tog,k2tog, K2) twice (12)

    Purl

    (K1, K2tog,k2tog, K1) twice(8)

    st st 4 rows

    K2tog across row (4)

    B&T

    Seam body together, stuff as you go, stuff head, add extra to eye section.

    A suggestion has been made to insert a pipecleaner, to aid coiling. This is optional, I found if I pinned and

    stitched, mine coiled nicely, without need for pipecleaner (chenille sticks)

    Coil as desired, sew in place.

    Embroider eyes and body patterning.Eyes: Use white for outer and black for pupils.

    Use grey for body.

    Make forked tongue. (I added hairspray to stiffen this tiny part)

    Double knitting wool in two shades of brown

    Tapestry needle

    Good quality toy stuffing

    CO: Cast on

    K: Knit

    P: Purl

    st(s): Stitch(es)

    beg: Beginning

    tog: Together

    inc1: Increase one by knitting into the front and back of the stitch

    K2tog: Knit two stitches together

    st-st :Stocking stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl)

    G. stitch : Garter stitch every row knit.

    B & T: Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread through remaining stitches on needle, draw up tightly and

    fasten off.

    I-cord- Cast on (in this case pick up 2 sts using double pointed needles.

    Knit, don't turn.

    Slip the sts back to the beginning of the needle and k the row again.

    Continue in this manner until you have a short length of knitting, pull down on the cord and the gap at the

    back will close.

    Continue until the cord is the length you desire.

    Thread the yarn through the sts and pull firmly.

    Acorn Instructions

    Cast on 4sts in darker brown, work in garter st until colour change.

    Knit

    Inc in each st (8)

    knit

    Inc1 in each st (16)

    g st 3 rows

    (K2tog,k1) repeat across row, K last 2 sts (11)

    Knit

    Change to lighter brown and beg st st with a knit row

    St st 3 rows

    (p2tog, P1) repeat across row to last st P1

    (K2tog,K1) repeat across row to last st, K1

    Purl

    B&T, keep a long tail to use on i-cord if desired.

    After sewing seam and stuffing, pick up 2sts from top of acorn, i-cord 3 rows, B&T

    If not using i-cord option cast on 2 sts and st 3 rows. Cast off and attach to top of acorn

    weave in any ends.
