You are about to learn some Arabic Greetings, Moroccan ones mainly. You will learn in these slides with audio integrated some common expressions of greetings to use at different times of the day. Read each expression while listening and practice saying it many times aloud. Please note that greetings in Arabic culture are lengthy, rich in vocab, idioms and religious expressions. So, preparing yourself and understanding this incredible culture will give you the tools for success in your Arabic studies, travels and business transactions, and will help you creating important foundations to build good and lasting relationships.

introduction

In Morocco, Islam has given a particular significance to social relations, politeness and social manners in general. He who says Islam, says absolute resignation to the will of Allah. It is not surprising then that the name of deity recurs ever and so often both for happy and unhappy events and so in every part of the speech with greetings on the top that carry a pray, a wish for happiness now and in future life.

The expressions of greetings that will be presented, such as assalaamo 3alykom, show clear how important evoking the bounty of Allah and his mercy, and so in all life aspects such as compliments, apologies etc..

assallamo 3alaykom is a short form of a long expression meaning May peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be upon you. It is considered the most agreable formula to any Muslim, carrying out of the religious context the meaning of a general Hello functionally speaking.
