Everything in this world has a purpose. The way in which purpose is portrayed architecturally quite often is influenced by surroundings. “Surrounding influence” explores the meanings behindarchitectural designs and how they relate to the purpose of the structure, the effects on design decisions created by surroundings and the such may determine entirely how the final structure appears.

The Hilton // Designed for the purpose of accomodation. Based upon the concept of of a cruise ship, situated near the water to give the feeling the impression of staying on a ship itself.

The anvil // Architect Andrew Patterson based his design upon the Anvil cumulonimbus cloud formation. The purpose of the Anvil office space is to blend in with nature in such a busy part of the city. Glass reflections create the illusion of it hardly being there at all.
