SURGE PROTECTION DEVICES

Hatch surge protection devices (SPDs) were designed with the lighting indus-try in mind. All are parallel-type SPDs and are UL-recognized per UL1449. These SPDs are available in a wide variety of protection levels and form factors and provide complete parallel protection for all equipment integrated into luminaires including drivers, ballasts, occupancy sensors and other mod-ules connected to line voltage.

The Hatch LSP3 surge protection devices are available in 120-277V and 347-480V models. The LSP3-10(L) model provides single phase protection for line/neutral, line/ground and neutral/ground in accordance with recommenda-tions in IEEE C62.41.2-2002 Category C Medium Exposure and the surge limits and testing requirements specified in ANSI C82.77 for lighting equipment, Cate-gory C medium exposure level. The LSP3-20(L) model provides protection per ANSI C82.77 for lighting equipment, Category C high exposure level. The LSP3 series offers protection for LED luminaires and includes integrated thermal protection and an EOL (end-of-life) LED indicator that monitors the protection status for L/N, L/G, and N/G.

The LSP3 surge protection device is a Type 4CA SPD in a small, flat form factor.

The Hatch LSP4 surge protection devices are available in 120-277V and 347-480V models. These SPDs provide 20kA differential-mode and 10kA com-mon-mode single phase protection for line/neutral, line/ground and neu-tral/ground in accordance per surge recommendations in IEEE C62.41.2-2002 Category C Medium Exposure and the surge limits and testing requirements specified in ANSI C82.77 for lighting equipment, Category C medium exposure level.

The LSP4 is a Type 5 SPD and is rated for IP65 environmental exposure levels.

The LSP10-SM is designed to be used in conjunction with LED drivers and fixtures to provide an additional level of protection against powerline disturbanc-es in industrial, commercial, and residential applications per surge recommen-dations in IEEE C62.41.2-2002 Category C Medium Exposure and the surge limits and testing requirements specified in ANSI C82.77 for lighting equipment, Category C medium exposure level. The LSP10-SM features an easy-to-inte-grate SNAPLOCK housing and integrated thermal fusing.

This SPD provides a 10kA single phase protection for line/neutral, line/ground and neutral/ground and is a Type 4CA SPD for field or factory installation.
