I don’t know of too many guys his age (20 at the time) that would have bussed it all the way into town 5 days a week for over a year, not complain and never be late. Not sure if I could have done something like that for that long, but I tell you what I was impressed! Kyle was Born in San Fran, Moved to Mililani and attended Elementary. At the age of 10 his Uncle took him surfing and that’s when he got the surfing bug. He started shopping at North Shore Board Riders because his cousin was the supervisor there so he would get discounts. That where he became good friend with Barry Kanaiapuni’s family. BK’s daughter Maya is about the same age as Kyle, so they surfed Barbers Point on weekends. One thing lead to another and at 15 years old Kyle had his first job working. Since he lived in Mililani, right after school he would hustle back home to eat, shower and hop on the bus to country and start work from 3 till 8. He did this 5 days a week for close to 4 years. I guess that’s where his bussing skills were honed ... haha! At 19 he moved back to San Fran to help a friend start a promotion company setting up sound systems for parties. He helped out for about a year and made his way back to Hawaii. Waiting at the airport on his way here is when he applied with us, and the next day he interviewed with us. Then about a week later he started working for us. Fast forward almost 4 years, he now runs Hawaiian South Shore like he owns the store. I’m super stoked to have him on board and I’m sure you can agree that he’s always giving 100% to make sure you get the right equipment that works for you and not to push you on to something just to make a sale. Who’s the Man that shapes John John Florence’s boards?

Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara,Ca., an area rich in surfing history & perfect right points. He quickly found himself deep into it.  Matt Moore shaped his boards & explained to him the ideas & principles of surfboard design.  After traveling around  for surf, Jon realized that he needed to surf better waves in warmer water, making a permanent move to Oahu's   North Shore in 1992.  He started out

fixing dings, worked his way up to full time glasser and shaped himself his first board around 1995.  Jeff Bushnman soon took him under his wing and put him to work in the shaping bay, which helped him refine his skills and he  has been shaping for his living ever since. The combination of being surrounded by many of the world's most talented surfers, and the high quality of the surf have given Pyzel a great opportunity to build world-class surfboards around the world   Today Jon still lives in Hawaii, where he runs the Pyzel Surfboards factory on the North Shore and travels to shape in Europe, Brazil, Uruguay, Japan, Indonesia and California.

Florence became well known in the winter of late 2005 and early 2006 when he became the youngest surfer ever to compete in the Vans Triple Crown. He had previously won five amateur awards, the 2003 1st NSSA Nationals Open Mini Grom, the 2005 1st NSSA Nationals Open Boy's, the 2005 NSSA Open Boys and the Explorer Menehune Champion. He did not pass the first round, but he did score higher than Shane Dorian, a professional surfer twenty years Florence's senior. Afterwards, Florence said he was "pretty scared" but that he was "happy with how [he] did". Surfer Kelly Slater has said of Florence "John John's going to know the waves on North Shore like no one we've ever seen before."

Singer Jack Johnson, who grew up in the same town as Florence, said he is "a little unprecedented". Florence's signature move is getting shacked at pipe, and his worst injury was a broken back. John John won the Vans World Cup of Surfing on December 2, 2011. He is the youngest contestant to have won this prestigious honor.

Who is Sweet Waterwear???We just picked up a a new line of women’s Waterwear and I thought it would be cool if he would tell you a little about himself and also tell you why and how he started Sweet Waterwear. -

David K. Sean - I have 25+ years in the apparel industry, in Hawaii, California & Colorado. I understand wholesale, specialty retail, design, technical product development, production and sourcing.  A few years back a good SUP friend said "you should make SUP apparel". That triggered something in me, I went shopping to find waterwear & there was so little choice. There was little to no fashion, style or innovation. Solid boring color rashguards, made in Asian countries with cheap polyester. That's when I knew I could do this & do it better... much better.

“Sweet” happens to be our last name & putting our family name on our gear means a great deal to us. “Waterwear” explains that we're much more than just paddlewear, we are a better water-sports-wear brand   from SUP to Surf to outrigger, kayak, canoe & other water board sports. We combine premium fabrics, with innovative & functional design, with fashionable style, color and fit to hit that "Sweet Spot".

We develop & test our product with numerous world class athletes in SUP, outrigger & water sport fitness. The Sweet Ohana has quickly grown and earned the respect of a worldwide network of many of the world's top water sport professionals. The depth & breadth of elite world class talent we have attracted to the Sweet Waterwear Ohana (Pro Team) is off the charts - 10 World Championship titles in the last 3 years alone!  On the Women's side, we are honored to work closely with Candice Appleby, Andrea Moller, Annabel Anderson, Terrene Black. On the Men’s side we work closely with Travis Grant, Jimmy Austin & Scott Gamble.  These athletes push us to develop the technical gear they need and use to win with.

Three of our strongest beliefs are 1. That people appreciate and will gladly pay more for BETTER Quality. 2. That you can make GREAT apparel right here in the USA. "Made in USA" is something close to us & it is something we are committed to and consumers appreciate. 3. Every person has their favorite colors. Color is a huge trigger & it's a big part of how Sweet Waterwear stands out in the crowd & on the rack.

Sweet Waterwear is sold in over 40 "better" water sport retailers across the mainland, New Zealand & Australia.  We choose to work with select quality retailers. HSS has a clean uncluttered store nice lighting, good signage, nice dressing rooms & most importantly a solid reputation for great service. The staff is well trained, attentive, knowledgeable & genuinely helpful. Because of all that, HSS has a great local reputation and a following of customers who appreciate good service & better products.  We invite you to come in to HSS to check out our exciting new line, "get your Sweet on" & take us along for the ride and enjoy "the Sweet Life".

Fine Tune your Quad Set Up and have more fun. Use it on you Shortboards, Longboards or SUP

"It gives us the stability we're all hoping for with a four-fin," says Mattison, "There's so much potential to tune your board for particular conditions. It can change a board like crazy."

And while even Slater has been unable to bring the springsuit back into fashion, the Nubster has taken off. He offers the "Pivot" for smaller waves or smaller surfers, a larger version, and also a longboard/SUP model.

FCS has a polycarbonate fin called the "VS Knubster." Yes, it is spelled differently and yes, it's the same fin Kelly used to win his 11th world title. For your tech geeks out there, it's 3 3/4 inches at

the base and 2-inches high.

According to Slater himself, "The Knubster will make your favorite quad set up faster, smoother and adds a little more control."If you're a fan of Future Fins, they carry a molded Nubster of the same material and dimensions, available where you'd find a Futures Fin Tree. It's no doubt that competitive surfing is completely stuck on the

thruster. Even taking into account a judging criteria that no longer detracts points for riding wider/fatter boards and Slater's influence, the entire tour is riding exactly the
