Supporting Your Loved One’s Mental & Emotional Health: A Skills Based Approach Does your child struggle with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, eating disorder, emotional issues, or angry outbursts? Are you unsure of what to do, what to say, or how to help? Caring for a loved one with mental health concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, or angry outbursts is very stressful, overwhelming, and terrifying for parents. Often, parents blame themselves, feel guilty, are afraid of making things worse, and can be unsure of what to say or do. This leaves parents feeling as though they are walking on eggshells and results in them doing just about anything to avoid another blow up. This two-day workshop based in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is an incredible and unique opportunity to learn skills that can assist you in what to say and what to do to support your child – of any age! Drs Joanne Dolhanty and Adele Lafrance worked along with Dr Les Greenberg to develop this innovative emotion-focused family based approach. Research has shown that after taking this workshop and developing these skills, parents develop closer, warmer, and more compassionate relationships with their loved one and report a reduction in problematic symptoms. These skills are applicable for ALL families, regardless of the child’s age and/or readiness for change! Attend this workshop to learn practical strategies to support your child Visit the official EFFT website for more information: https://emotionfocusedfamilytherapy.org

Parents who have attended this group have reported feeling less shame, guilt, alone and more hope and motivation…

“Just for me it was about feeling guilty, you know shame and everything. The guilt was lifted.”

“There’s no longer any blame. I mean okay fine things happen, let’s fix it.”

“For the longest time… you feel like you’re kind of isolated, dealing with it

yourself. But with the parent group, you know all the discussions were about how we’re not alone”

“We’re not alone and these people have, they found a way out so we’re going

to find a way out, as well.”
