Career exploration is a focus at KIH. Advisory curriculum is scaffolded in grades 9 through12 to develop a better understanding of career options.

COLLEGE READINESS• During the senior year, KIH offers math and English in

partnership with Grand Rapids Community College • Classes offered include:

• College Algebra• Statistics• English Composition 101• English Composition 102

• Students have the potential to earn up to 14 credit hours• College credit is paid for by Kent Innovation High

RESULTS• 51 percent of current seniors entered one or more college

course• 93 percent successfully passed those courses• 40 percent of seniors participated in, and successfully

completed, at least one semester of a career internship • Internship partners include, but are not limited to:

• Apex Spring & Stamping• Grand Rapids Children’s Museum• Gordon Water• John Ball Zoo• Salvation Army Kroc Center• Lowell Area Schools• More-Self-Less • Petroleum Technologies

COOK DEVOS – BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY(RESEARCH, MEDICAL SCIENCE, BIOMEDICAL

ENGINEERING)

• 6 credits/student for over 161 students since the 09-10 SY.

• All courses were transcripted GVSU courses in the health sciences.

DOWNTOWN MARKET- THERAPEUTICS & DIAGNOSTIC• 2013 - 2014 school year HSECA students received a total of

703 direct college credits granted thru Ferris State University. 

• This represents a tuition bill of $256,595.  Each student earned 7 credits on average.

•  Individual student cost savings is estimated at $7,216 (includes tuition and room/board).  

• Students attending 2 years of the HSECA programs can earn up to 14 direct college credits increasing their college cost savings.
