Support Staff Success Stories
I have learnt new skills that allow me to fill in for
other staff when absent and to do part of their job to
assist them.
My success is seeing the children succeed with their
goals with my contribution to their
education.
Encouraging children to enjoy reading to a
point where they have moved up several
levels.
A child I work with is now attending school daily because of the
work we do together!
In the last two years I tripled Support Staff
Membership.
Some are now moving into teaching.
Gained more Teacher support within the school.
Wrote to The Board and got their support as well as our
parents.

NZEI does all these things!
A student that I do Physio and OT work with has
managed to accomplish and remember routines and
exercises and has excelled at them.
He tells me he enjoys his time with me.
Watching the expressions
on the faces of our tamariki
as they achieve.
Took our bilingual Maori students to the Gold Coast
in 2007.
Accompanied a school group of bilingual
Maori students to Hawaii.
Have seen the school grow since being built in
2002 from ten classrooms to 18 and a Technology
Centre.
Happy to have a job!
Successfully implemented the physical relocation of the library contents, which is a huge job.
I am trained to teach the students reading. I am
happy with my input into improving their education.
Getting ALL our Support Staff excited and wanting to
join NZEI, recognising the value of belonging!
I have assisted a child with Learning Disabilities
feel included in a classroom situation.
Teaching Year 7 & 8 children several different
maths strategies and then watching them successfully
use the appropriate strategy to solve maths
problems in a test situation.
I have helped children to adapt to their first day of
school.
Children improving their reading levels and helping ESOL children settle into a
learning environment.
I feel that all the children that come into my care in the sick bay leave feeling
either, better, comforted or cared for in one way or
another.
I hope you have enjoyed reading our success stories.
Many Support Staff around the country have these successes every week and every day!!
