Indexator Rototilt Sys-tems changed its name to Rototilt, short and sweet. Behind this apparently un-dramatic change lies a larg-er, long-term decision about continued product devel-opment and a determined marketing initiative in North America and Europe.

We see enormous growth potential in places like North America and central Europe where tilt rotators are still not used to the same extent as in Scandinavia, but where de-velopments are beginning to pick up speed, CEO An-ders Jonsson tells us.

The challenge in the new markets lies in ex-plaining the concept of Ro-totilt and how it turns an excavator in to a very effi-cient tool carrier. The key to success for Rototilt lies in a well-established founda-tion in the Nordic countries (90% of all excavators up to 30 tonnes are equipped with a tilt rotator) togeth-er with established sales channels and an increased

interest from end users and equipment suppliers on the new markets.

Rototilts investment in modular production which allows the customer to determine how the tilt rotator should be config-ured will also be a signifi-cant success factor here:

The international mar-ket is not homogeneous. Needs differ greatly from country to country and from contractor to con-tractor; thus in the future, all the major manufactur-ers will need to offer cus-tomized tilt rotator solu-tions, but Rototilt already provides this freedom of choice today.

The investment is also good news for the town of Vindeln in northern Swe-den. In order to manage the companys continued expansion and growing market share, it is now making a number of strate-gic personnel recruitments. The head office and all product development will continue to be located in

    Vindeln, Vsterbotten, in northern Sweden.

Rototilt is the worlds leading tilt rotator today as a result of our person-nels hard work and single-minded efforts. Im proud of what weve achieved to-gether and convinced that we have the right team line-up here in Sweden and our new International mar-kets as we take the next step in our development.

The name change is also a natural develop-ment of the ownership changes in Indexator companies effective as of October 1st, 2014. CEO Anders Jonsson has now focused his ownership and commitment on Roto-tilt while sister company Indexator Rotator Systems is now owned by Hans and Pia Jonsson together with ke Karlsson. b

McElroy has brought hydraulic capability to its Pipe Stand line for 4 to 20 (200mm-500mm) pipe to help align thermoplas-tic pipe more efficiently on butt fusion jobsites.

The Hydraulically Ad-justable Pipe Stand fea-tures hand-pumped hy-draulic lifting which gives the operator the ability to adjust the height of the stand while the pipe is still supported on the stand. The hydraulic ad-justing feature eliminates the need to remove the pipe from the stand so that the chain and height

can be adjusted by hand.Like McElroys other

line of pipe handling tools, this further reduc-es the demand for extra equipment needed to ma-noeuvre and hold pipe in place which saves time and boosts productivity.

Designing products to better serve the needs of our customers has al-ways been the driving force behind McElroy, said Chip McElroy, Presi-dent and Chief Execu-tive Officer of McElroy. Were excited to of-fer this new innovation which will help stream-

line fusion operations involving long lines of pipe.

The Hydraulically Ad-justable Pipe Stands are tough and durable with the ability to support 2,750 lbs. of pipe. It is a well-crafted tool featur-ing soft rollers to pro-tect the pipe and reduce scratching.

McElroy Pipe Stands for 4 to 20 (200mm-500mm) pipe can be up-graded so that they are hydraulically adjustable as well by purchasing a cylinder kit and a hand-pump kit. Each hand pump can operate on up to five pipe stands by hooking and unhooking to the pipe stand cylin-der. They are compact, lightweight and easily portable. b

During this holiday season, many of the gifts that were given and received help pro-vide good-paying jobs for thousands of British Columbians in B.C.s mining sector.

More than 30,000 British Columbians are employed in mining, mineral exploration and related sectors with av-erage annual salary and benefits of more than $100,000. Many of the resources mined right here in B.C. are core components in your holiday gifts.

Did you stuff some lift passes in someones stocking? Approximate-ly 4,000 cubic metres of concrete was used in building Whistlers Peak 2 Peak gondola. Each year, millions of tonnes of construction aggregates, like sand, gravel and stone, are produced in B.C. for use in roads and construc-tion, including projects

like the Peak 2 Peak gondola.

Did you make a list and check it twice on your smartphone or tablet? Nearly 3 mil-lion adults in B.C. own smartphones. These devices require metals like copper and gold, as well as an industrial mineral called silica for the screens. In 2013, B.C. produced $2 bil-lion worth of copper and nearly $300 million worth of gold.

Did you have a mu-sician on your gift list? Most metal gui-tar strings are typically wound using bronze, an alloy of copper. The circuitry in amplifiers, keyboards and mixers all require gold and cop-per to help make beauti-ful music.

Mining takes up a very small portion of B.C.s land base less than 1% but it makes a tremendous impact on our economy. b

Blastcrete Equipment Company has upgraded its 2,200-pound-capacity Pan Mixer for greater effi-ciency, easier maintenance and faster mixing speeds. The company designed the 2200 Pan Mixer specifically for refractory installations and manufacturing precast refractory shapes. It can mix up to 1 metric ton of refractory castable in two minutes or less. In addi-tion, the mixer can be used for dry blending materials

before water is added. The new design in-

creased the units maxi-mum mixing speed from 30 rpm to 45 rpm, which reduces mixing times from five minutes to two min-utes or less. It also has a variable frequency drive, which allows users to ad-just the units mixing speed from 0 to 45 rpm in both forward and reverse.

The upgraded de-sign also increases the pan mixers efficiency. To avoid the power loss that occurs when using hydraulics, the 40-horse-power electric motor couples directly to two gearboxes. By eliminat-ing costly hydraulic com-ponents and the upkeep they require, Blascrete has made the 2200 Pan Mixer more economical to purchase and maintain. An extension ring above the mixer was added to prevent material loss or spillage during loading or the mixing process, and a Fill-Rite water meter and

20-gauge dousing bucket allow for quick and ac-curate water filling. Addi-tionally, a new bag ripper improves safety and ef-ficiency by automatically opening bulk bags over the mixer.

The mixers durable, tu-bular-steel frame includes a 15-square-foot opera-tor platform and a user-friendly control panel for easy operation. Blastcrete offers a platform mixer extension so that the cus-tomer can discharge the mixer at various heights. A 3-horsepower electric motor with a hydraulic power unit opens the bot-tom discharge door so material free flows into a pump or mortar pan to be transferred to a form.

The 2200 Pan Mixer also features a hydrauli-cally powered mixer tilt function, which allows the user to easily mix a batch as small as 200 pounds the smallest in the industry to finish the job. The tilt also allows for fast clean up.

Blastcrete can custom-ize the 2200 Pan Mixer to fit any voltage and hertz requirements, including those outside of the United States. b

Iowa Mold Tooling Co. Inc. (IMT), an Oshkosh Corporation company (NYSE:OSK), is pleased to announce the addition of the IMT 28562 hydraulic loader to its line-up of hy-draulic loaders. The new IMT 28562 loader offers customers another option for efficient handling of palletized materials in the building supply and con-struction industries.

The IMT 28562 hydraulic loader features the highest rating in the IMT line-up at 161,490 foot-pounds (22.3 tm). It has a maximum lift capacity of 5,700 pounds (2,585 kilograms), up to 62 feet 3 inches (19 meters) of horizontal reach and a maxi-mum vertical reach of 71 feet 4 inches (21.8 meters). The loader is capable of lift-ing 2,400 pounds (1,089 kilograms) at its maximum horizontal reach.

    A 22-foot (6.7-meter)

hydraulic out-and-down stabilizer span provides customers with excellent stability for loading and unloading palletized goods, while a high lift-to-weight ratio allows for maximum payload on the truck.

The IMT 28562 loader includes a standard RCL (rated capacity limiter) 5300 system, which blocks load-increasing func-tions when full capacity is reached. The loaders standard radio remote con-trol comes equipped with an information centre that provides continuous feed-back on load moment and operation conditions.

At IMT, were commit-ted to helping our customers become more productive, said John Field, IMT product manager of material handling. The IMT 28562 hydrau-lic loader has the strength, reach and precision manoeu-vrability our customers need

to quickly load and unload building materials.

Additional features of the new IMT 28562 loader include a rotation system that operates in a continu-ous oil bath to reduce fric-tion and enhance life.

The complete line-up of IMT hydraulic loaders also includes the 16000 and 24562 models.

The IMT 16000 loader features a maximum ca-pacity of 5,825 pounds (2,642 kilograms), up to 42 feet (12.8 meters) of hori-zontal reach and a maxi-mum vertical reach of 54 feet 1 inch (16.5 meters). The 16000 loader offers A-Frame stabilizers and top seat controls with optional radio remote control.

The IMT 24562 loader features a maximum lift capacity of 5,000 pounds (2,270 kilograms), up to 62 feet 3 inches (19 meters) of horizontal reach and a maxi-mum vertical reach of 71 feet 4 inches (21.8 meters). The loader offers standard radio remote control with the information centre, with manual backup controls from the top seat. b

IMT Expands Line-Up Of Hydraulic Loaders

Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway com-pany and leading building products manufacturer, to-day announced the addition of JM Corbond Open-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam (oc SPF) and JM Corbond Open-Cell Appendix X Spray Polyurethane Foam (ocx SPF) to its complete line of building insulation products. The new products replace the previous JM oc SPF line and are recommended for walls, floors, crawl spaces, and both unvented and vented attics and ceilings.

Our new high-per-formance JM Corbond open-cell spray foams of-fer outstanding thermal performance and spray characteristics, which ul-timately provide value to both our customers and building occupants.

JM Corbond oc SPF is a two-component, low-density, non-structural in-sulation system designed for commercial, residential and industrial applications. Its low-density nature al-

lows for tremendous yield, while still affording air sealing of homes, offices and classrooms. This re-sults in better air quality and increased comfort for building occupants.

Additionally, JM Cor-bond ocx SPF meets ICC Evaluation Services AC 377 Appendix X requirements for application without an ignition barrier in attics and crawl spaces. The basis for the Appendix X test method is NFPA 286. This eliminates an extra step and reduces the number of passes re-quired, which saves contrac-tors time and money while achieving the same perfor-mance level of JM Corbond oc SPF.

JM Corbond oc SPF is available throughout the U.S. and Canada. JM Cor-bond ocx SPF is available in the U.S. only, as it is an ideal match to building codes and climate zones.

Performance advantag-es of JM Corbond oc SPF and JM Corbond ocx SPF include:

Superior sprayability: Offers excellent spray characteristics allowing for improved efficiency and ease of installation for contractors on jobs of all sizes.

Comfortable indoor en-vironments: Stops air leakage with an effective air barrier that will not shrink or settle, which results in more consis-tent indoor temperature control year-round, and improves Sound Trans-mission Class (STC) rat-ing to reduce noise pol-lution.Johns Manville is al-

ways looking for opportu-nities to provide customers with innovative products that meet the needs of any project, and adding two new spray foam op-tions enables us to sat-isfy increased demand for spray foam solutions, said Geoff Stephenson, national sales manager for spray foam products at Johns Manville. Our new high-performance JM Corbond open-cell spray foams offer outstanding thermal perfor-mance and spray charac-teristics, which ultimately provide value to both our customers and building oc-cupants. b

Shifting trade pat-terns increase transport distances by 12%, North Pacific surpasses North Atlantic as main trading route.

In the face of shifting global trade patterns, in-ternational freight trans-port volumes will grow more than fourfold (fac-tor 4.3) by 2050. Average transport distance across all modes will increase 12%. As a result, CO2 emis-

sions from freight transport will grow by 290% by 2050. Freight will replace passenger traffic as main source of CO2 emissions from surface transport.

The North Pacific route will surpass the North Atlantic as the worlds most busy trading cor-ridor in terms of freight volume (in tonne-km), growing 100 percent-age points faster than the North Atlantic. The Indian Ocean corridor will see large growth,

    with freight volume quadrupling.

Intra-African (+715%) and intra-Asian (+403%) freight vol-umes will see particu-larly strong growth to 2050. Road transport will dominate here due to lack of other modes.

The share of domestic transport of interna-tional freight flows, identified here for the first time, accounts for 10% of trade-related international freight, but 30% of CO2 emissions. This is important: Domestic transport is shaped by national policies, less by international agree-ments. These are some of the

key findings of the ITF Transport Outlook 2015, presented at the OECD headquarters in Paris, France.

The foreseeable in-crease in global freight represents an unprec-edented challenge for

the worlds transport systems, said ITF Secre-tary-General Jos Viegas at the launch.

Increasing capacity constraints in transport can act as a brake on economic growth.

A quadrupling of freight emissions can seriously undermine cli-mate change mitigation.

The ITF Transport Outlook 2015 also con-tains a wealth of infor-mation on passenger transport. In particular, latest projections on CO2 emissions and health im-pacts for car-based and public transport-based mobility scenarios for big cities in China, India and Latin America.

According to these projections, cities in these regions will gen-erate more than a third (38%) of the growth in passenger transport emissions to 2050. Poli-cies to avoid urban traf-fic and shift to public transport could reduce this growth by 30-40%. But these must look at both climate and health impacts, as some mea-sures reduce CO2 emis-sions, but increase other pollutants. b

The 184-horsepower Doosan DX255LC-5 crawl-er excavator has been add-ed to the Tier 4-compliant line-up, featuring improved performance, operator-fo-cused comfort, fuel econo-my and jobsite durability. The Tier 4-compliant mod-el replaces the interim Tier 4 (iT4) DX255LC-3.Smart Power Control

A new selectable fea-ture, Smart Power Con-trol (SPC), consists of two systems Variable Speed Control and Pump Torque Control that work to-gether to improve machine efficiency while maintain-ing productivity and re-ducing fuel consumption. The engine control unit (ECU) automatically man-ages SPC when SPC is en-gaged. Each of the four power modes will function with SPC engaged or disen-gaged; however, SPC can be active only in the dig-ging work mode.

Variable Speed Control: Reduces engine rpm during low workload requirements

such as during the swing portion of a dig cycle. This reduces the total energy re-quired to perform a task and improves fuel efficiency by up to 3-7 percent.

Pump Torque Control: Efficiently matches hydrau-lic pump torque and en-gine response to the task, preventing engine overload and excess fuel consump-tion, improving efficiency.Display enhancements

An improved 7-inch LCD screen allows opera-tors to continue monitor-ing the excavator param-eters while viewing the rear-view and/or side-view camera image. Critical ma-chine data appears next to the camera view. With an optional side camera, a split screen allows both camera displays to be viewed at once. New additions to the monitor include the DEF gauge and improved fuel efficiency.

To help save valuable diesel fuel, Doosan added auto-shutdown to its exca-vators to help owners save

fuel during non-working conditions. Operators can configure the idle time from 3 to 60 minutes. When enabled, the feature will shut down the excava-tors engine when the pre-set idle time is met. This is particularly helpful in Cali-fornia where state regula-tions require idling for only 5 minutes for off-highway machines.New machine updates

In addition to auto-shut-down and LCD screen up-dates, the new Doosan DX-255LC-5 crawler excavator has the following updates: Improved anti-skid

plates: for easier en-gine access for machine maintenance

Auto belt tensioner, fan and air conditioning: simplifies maintenance

Emergency engine stop: relocated for easier op-erator access

Improved serviceability: allows for easier access to components and less time for maintenance

    Upgraded alternator: de-

livers improved power for electrical components

New front window de-sign: provides good vis-ibility to the work area

    Doosan TelematicsDoosan excavators

come with a standard 3-year subscription to Doosan Telematics, which allows equipment own-ers and fleet managers to remotely monitor machine location, hours, fuel usage, engine idle versus work time, error codes and en-gine as well as hydraulic temperatures. Machines can be monitored via an

online Doosan Telematics account. In addition, Doo-san dealers can provide im-proved customer support using the system by re-sponding to machine warn-ing messages and alerts, troubleshooting machine issues, and then sending a field service vehicle to help with repairs and the proper parts.Tier 4 compliance

The Doosan DX255LC-5 complies with Tier 4 emis-sion standards with modi-fied diesel engines and af-tertreatment technologies. The engine is optimized

for use with a high-pres-sure common-rail (HPCR) fuel delivery system and a cooled exhaust gas recir-culation (CEGR) system. It utilizes a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to reduce particulate matter (PM) and selective catalyst re-duction (SCR) aftertreat-ment to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx). Addition-ally, a variety of aftertreat-ment systems have been implemented as part of the Tier 4 compliance, such as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), which is used with SCR technology. b

If youve ever purchased used heavy equipment at auction, you may know the feeling of holding what you believe is the winning bid, only to be outbid in the fi-nal moments. Or perhaps you spent more than you planned, only to find out that the equipment is not exactly as it was described. You can improve your buy-ing strategies and avoid these disappointments

with a few simple tips for smarter equipment acqui-sition. Youll save time, money and have greater peace of mind about your fleet purchases. 1. Be on the lookout for critical issues

In some instances, buy-ers may not be aware of major problems or issues with equipment until af-ter theyve invested in the item. Why? Space and time

constraints during onsite auctions may hinder the ability to fully view and assess the condition of the equipment. For this rea-son, it is imperative for the buyer or another party act-ing on behalf of the buyer to inspect the equipment thoroughly to determine its condition. Inspection can detect major problems such as corrosion, poor brakes, difficult steering, a smoking engine or struc-tural cracks.

To make the most of your purchasing experi-ence, look for a market-place that offers inspection reports featuring photos, oil samples and a clear de-

scription of the condition of the equipment along with a guarantee that ensures the report is accurate.2. Take purchase price and resale value into consideration

Research the market value and previous selling prices for similar equipment so you have an idea of how much you will be spending. You may be able to save money by purchasing a comparable brand or model.

When shopping for equipment its also impor-tant to think about resale value. Purchasing a ma-chine that has more fea-tures than you need may

Big Win: Tips For Successful Equipment Buying

The Yukon government is introducing a new ener-gy incentive program that assists Yukoners to im-prove the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Yukon govern-ment is actively contribut-ing to incentive programs in order to encourage en-ergy conservation and ef-ficient energy use, Min-ister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent said.

The new Good Energy Residential Incentives Pro-gram helps Yukoners make their homes more comfort-able, improve energy ef-ficiency and make house-hold energy bills more affordable.

The program builds on the successes of on-going Good Energy Rebate pro-grams and will also offer an incentive to the cover capital costs of micro-gen-

actually be a good invest-ment because it can ulti-mately yield a higher resale value when you are ready to dispose of it.3. Match purchases with business needs

Avoid wasting time and money purchasing machin-ery that doesnt fit your busi-ness by searching for equip-ment that aligns with your current fleet and upcoming needs. Often times, equip-ment or fleet managers stay loyal to particular brands and models. Consistency in fleet acquisition allows for better parts pricing and backup equipment should units go down. Sticking with a particular brand and mod-el also simplifies training for operators. 4. Understand transport conditions and pricing

Equipment transport is highly specialized and many considerations go into determining the cost, making it a large expense for buyers. For instance, equipment may need to be disassembled to reduce di-mensions, permits may be required and special routes may be necessary to ac-commodate weight restric-tions or inclement weather. These factors should be

considered prior to bidding because, in some cases, they can result in transport costs that exceed the cost of the equipment.

It is not always clear whether or not providers of equipment transportation have been thoroughly qual-ified and are experienced enough to move your items. On top of that, trans-port cost calculations may not be transparent ahead of a purchase. Search for a marketplace that offers various options for trans-porting equipment, careful-ly qualifies transportation providers and provides a way to estimate costs.5. Make technology your friend

An online marketplace is a convenient option for purchasing equipment. With an Internet or broad-band connection, you can access an auction with your phone, tablet or computer to easily browse inventory and make a purchase all without leaving your home, office or jobsite. Look for an online marketplace that offers help from customer service representatives, lo-cal sales staff, transporta-tion support and financing options. The marketplace should also alleviate the

issue of other buyers out-bidding someone at the last moment. Ideally, bidding clocks should reset when bidding activity occurs in the last minutes of the auction to give buyers the chance to make or update an offer.6. Stay within your finan-cial boundaries

Before you attend an auction, you should set a realistic budget for equip-ment and aim to stay with-in that amount. Its impor-tant that you factor costs beyond the purchase price into your budget, including import taxes, border docu-mentation and transport. It doesnt make sense to bid on an item if border or transport issues will seri-ously delay or prevent de-livery of the equipment.

When investing in used heavy equipment, buyers need to be cautious of the acquisition process. Re-membering these tips will keep your business run-ning smoothly by ensuring economical purchases, and by avoiding purchases of defective or incompatible equipment at auction. b

eration projects. In total, nine new prod-

ucts will qualify under the Residential Incentives Pro-gram: heat-recovery venti-lators; EnergyStar windows and doors; and solar, wind, hydro, biomass or geother-mal energy generators.

The Good Energy Resi-dential Incentives Program demonstrates the Yukon governments strong and continuing commitment to energy efficiency, Kent added.

The new residential housing program will came into effect on January 1, 2015. $1.4 million from the Northern Housing Trust will enable the new initia-tive.

The Good Energy Rebate program will continue to provide incentives for the purchase of high-efficiency

home heating systems and appliances. Since 2007, the popular Good Energy Re-bate program has success-fully delivered over 10,000 rebates to Yukon residents,

displacing 29,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, saving 17,000,000 kWh of energy and resulting in a cost savings of $15.3 million.b
