It is with heavy hearts that we an-nounce the passing of Robert (Bob) Edgerton Mohr on Thursday June 11, 2015. After a brief but heroic battle with lung cancer, Bob went peacefully with his four children and his brother, Charlie, by his side. Bob handled his illness the same way he handled his life - with determination, humility and the attitude: It is what it is, now lets get it done.

Bob was born on May 26, 1943 in Cal-gary, Alberta to Mur-ray and Mickey Mohr. He was the youngest of three boys and he and his brothers, Charlie and John, were known in the neighbourhood for their mischievous antics. Bob developed a love of cars and bought his first one, a 1931 Chrysler Imperial, at the age of 14. He went on to build hot rods,

stock cars, drag race cars and inboard boats with his buddies. He was an avid stock car racer and raced in Calgary, Nanton, Lethbridge and Rosebud where he had his fair share of wins and endless fun.

Bob turned his love for cars and mechan-ics into a profession and started an automo-tive apprenticeship at a Volkswagen garage. He attended SAIT and be-came certified in 1965 as a Red Seal Motor Vehicle Mechanic. This led to his job at Pioneer Machinery in Calgary where he was introduced to the world of aggregate equipment. He advanced very quick-ly and went on to travel as a sales representative for Agg Mac. Custom-ers marvelled at his un-canny knack for the in-dustry and would tease him that the company should be called Mohr Mac instead of Agg Mac.

He took that feedback to heart and in 1980; he of-ficially opened the doors of Mormak Equipment Ltd. in Vernon, BC. Mor-mak developed an inter-national reputation as an industry leader and grew to include a branch in Calgary, Alberta and Chilliwack, BC. Although Bob sold his company in 2013, he remained on as CEO and was still work-ing up until one month ago. When people would ask when he was going to retire, Bob would re-ply with a glint in his eye, Ill retire when it stops being fun right now, Im still havin fun. Bob was a man of many passions, which includ-ed ranching, snowmo-biling, attending rodeos, embarking on motorcy-cle road trips and, most importantly, spending treasured time with fam-ily and friends. He was extremely proud of each of his children, Nicole

(Lee), Brandice (Rob), Michael (Melanie), Kal-vin (Oksana), and al-ways made time for them despite his heavy busi-ness responsibilities.

Bob also loved each of his grandchildren be-yond measure. Liviah, Rowan, Clay and Parker were very fortunate to have had him as their grandpa even for this short amount of time. His inquisitive, mischie-vous and loving spirit will forever live on in them.

An outdoor celebration of life was held on Mon-day, June 22, 2015 at the Historic OKeefe Ranch. Bob requested that this gathering be held after the tears have dried but there will always be a tear in our eye for the loss of this great man. We will seek comfort in one of Bobs favourite quotes: Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. In lieu of flow-ers, memorial donations can be made in Bobs name to the BC Cancer Founda-tion or the 4-H British Co-lumbia Foundation. The Business Alliance welcomed the commitment by federal, provincial and territorial ministers at their meeting June 16th to have a renegotiated internal trade deal by March 2016. Reducing internal barriers is necessary to reduce costs on business and encour-age business activity in Canada.

In their presentation to ministers, the Business Al-liance called for an ambi-tious domestic trade deal that eliminates regula-tory barriers to moving all goods, services and labour in Canada, unless there are

legitimate reasons not to. Exceptions should be listed publicly. The agreement should enhance regulatory cooperation among juris-dictions, provide for mutu-al recognition of goods and services and ensure an ef-fective and efficient dispute resolution mechanism.

Business stakeholders are part of the solution and the Business Alliance is looking forward to contin-ued positive contribution to the reform process.

in Canada and has been working towards the com-mon goal of strengthening Canadas economic union. Kubota Tractor Cor-poration (KTC) and Kubota Credit Corpo-ration (KCC) recently announced that they will relocate their head-quarters to Grapevine, Texas. Both companies are U.S. subsidiaries of Kubota Corporation, based in Osaka, Japan, and have been planning for increased efficien-cies on the heels of re-cent expansions and an aggressive growth strat-egy. The move will af-fect about 180 employ-ees and is expected to happen within the next 18 months.

This restructuring and relocation to Texas aligns with our strate-gic business objectives to strengthen Kubotas brand in the U.S. mar-ketplace, enter new in-dustry segments, and to position our company for long term, sustain-able growth in North America, stated Masato Yoshikawa, President

This is the most significant change we have under-taken during our long and successful history in the U.S., and there was much thought, de-liberation and consider-ation that went into our decision. Keyera Corp. (TSX:KEY) (Keyera) announced a 50-50 joint venture with Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:KMI) (Kinder Mor-gan) to build the Base Line Terminal (the Ter-minal), an above ground crude oil storage terminal near Edmonton, Alberta. The project is underpinned by several take-or-pay agreements ranging up to 10 years in length with creditworthy customers. Based on current capital estimates, Keyeras share of costs to construct the Terminal is estimated to be approximately CDN$330 million, excluding capital-ized interest. The Terminal is expected to be commis-sioned in phases, with the first tanks scheduled to be commissioned in the sec-ond half of 2017, based on the most recent construc-tion schedule.

The Terminal will be built on undeveloped land at Keyeras Alberta Envi-roFuels site. Initially, 12 tanks will be constructed

to provide customers with 4.8 million barrels of stor-age capacity. Sufficient land remains to add up to 1.8 million barrels of in-cremental storage capacity subject to future demand. The Terminal will be con-nected via pipeline to Kind-er Morgans existing Ed-monton storage terminals and will provide customers with access to all crude oil streams handled by Kinder Morgan. From the Termi-nal, customers will be able to deliver products to end markets using multiple de-livery options, including but not limited to major pipelines and nearby rail terminals operated by Ke-yera and Kinder Morgan. Kinder Morgan will oversee construction of the project and operate the Terminal once it is in service.

This project is another example of Keyera and Kinder Morgan combining complementary assets and expertise to meet our cus-tomers needs, said David Smith, Keyeras President

and Chief Executive Offi-cer. While Keyera is con-tributing valuable undevel-oped land, Kinder Morgan provides unparalleled connectivity to sources of crude oil in the Edmonton area.

Kinder Morgan is ex-cited to build this new fa-cility with Keyera, which was made possible by le-veraging the success of our previous joint venture, said John Schlosser, Kinder Morgan Terminals Presi-dent. Edmonton is playing an increasingly important role as a North American crude oil hub, demon-strated by the growth of inbound and outbound pipeline capacity. If youre looking to purchase surplus heavy equipment, you already know there are plenty of factors to weigh against each other. Of course, you want to get a great price

on the item. But youre also looking at the long-term impact on your busi-ness. Is the equipment due for major repair? Are you sure youre getting all of the information about

equipment condition that you need to make an edu-cated purchase?

Knowing when to walk away from an item that may seem, at first, like a great buy is a skill all buy-

ers should have up their sleeves. Sometimes the decision is easy, but buy-ers need to know what to look for and how heavily to weigh various factors. Here are six key deal-breakers: Equipment condition is not given in detail or guaranteed

If you cant be sure what kind of condition the equipment is in, you should walk away from the sale. A reliable seller or marketplace will provide you with a guaranteed, detailed inspection report

with plenty of photos. The report should cover engine and transmission condition (including fluid analysis), any structural issues or weaknesses, hy-draulics, tire or undercar-riage condition, cosmetic blemishes, and machine specifications and con-figuration. If theres no inspection report, sellers should at the very least give you the opportunity to inspect the equipment in person. Equipment specifications and configuration are unclear

When youre putting money down on pieces of equipment costing you tens of thousands of dol-lars, understanding exact-ly how the truck or piece of equipment is config-ured is critical. Some of these machines are very high-dollar value, Iron-Planets Director of In-spection Services, Chris Lambing, says. And, one misrepresentation is a lot of headache, a lot of cost for the buyer. Theres no reason for configuration or specs to be opaque or confusing during the pur-chase process, so if you cant get these details from the seller or market-place, you should pass on the chance to purchase. Equipment resale value is lower than the price youre being asked to pay

Before purchasing a ma-chine, research the market value of the item. If you can, find out the prices of recently sold similar items; this will give you good context for prices before bidding. If the seller or marketplace is asking for significantly more than the item is worth, that should be a red flag for you as the buyer. Ask what qualities this item has that warrant a price above fair market value and then decide if you are still interested in this piece of equipment.Brand or model do not align with your teams training or current fleet

For managers of larger fleets hoping to get the best parts pricing and streamline training or maintenance, it can be a big advantage to purchase equipment from a particu-lar brand and in a particu-lar model. If you can get what looks like a good deal on another brand, but add-ing that brand to your fleet would incur extra training and parts costs, you may want to skip it.

Equipment requires ma-jor repair that your bud-get wont accommodate

Remember to include the cost of repairs as you calculate equipment value. If the item has a malfunc-tioning engine, transmis-sion, steering or brakes, or if it has significant struc-tural damage and wear and tear, the low price youre paying may be offset by the expense of those re-pairs. Understand what the equipment will require to get up and running, reli-ably, and how much those repairs will cost. Transportation costs and restrictions will outpace any potential savings on item price

For used equipment buyers, the second-biggest expense after the purchase price is usually the cost to transport the equipment from the sale site to the buyers yard. Transporta-tion of heavy equipment often requires disassem-bly and reassembly, spe-cial permits, and changing routes to accommodate the equipments unusual weight or seasonal load re-strictions, or cross-country weather conditions. Dont forget any potential bor-der crossings and customs brokerage you may need to account for, as well. Look for a marketplace that vets transportation providers and offers multiple options for moving equipment and customs support.

Get an estimate of trans-portation costs before you decide if a particular piece of equipment is right for you. If the expenses add up to an amount youre not comfortable with, walk away.

Used heavy equipment is often a great deal and can save you unnecessary expense, if youre smart about where you buy and watch for these warning signs. Often its as simple as understanding if theres any untrustworthy report-ing on equipment condi-tion, a mismatch of equip-ment specifications to your needs or a mismatch of expected total spend to what youre willing to bud-get for the item. Kobe Steel, Ltd. and its group companies, Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. and Kobelco Cranes Co., Ltd., have agreed to begin considering a business merger of Kobel-co Construction Machinery and Kobelco Cranes. Con-siderations will commence with the aim of integrat-ing the two companies on April 1, 2016.

The Kobe Steel Groups construction equipment business, consisting of hydraulic excavators and cranes, currently operates through two companies, with the launching of Ko-belco Construction Ma-

chinery in October 1999, followed by an alliance with the former CNH Glob-al N.V. in October 2002, and a spin-off of the crane business into a separate company in April 2004.

To capture growing demand throughout the world, both Kobelco Con-struction Machinery and Kobelco Cranes have been implementing their respec-tive strategies and plans for global expansion, and both companies have con-tinued to grow. With com-bined sales of nearly 400 billion yen from the two operations, the construc-tion equipment business

is an important segment, comprising about a 20 per-cent share of the Kobe Steel Groups consolidated sales.

Under the medium-term business plan launched in May 2013 covering fis-cal years 2013 to 2015, the Kobe Steel Group said it would adopt a policy of strategically expanding its machinery-related busi-nesses. In the United States where demand contin
