To help customers around the world better understand the health of their equipment and opti-mize machine availability, Caterpillar Inc. announced Mar. 5, it has entered into a technology and predic-tive analytics agreement with Uptake, provider of a dynamic analytics and insight platform for a wide array of industries, based in Chicago, Ill. Caterpil-lar has made a minority investment in Uptake and will jointly develop an end-to-end platform for predic-tive diagnostics to help Cat-erpillar customers monitor and optimize their fleets more effectively. The new technology will be avail-able for both Cat products and non-Cat branded prod-ucts.

Customers use our cur-rent technology for fleet monitoring and to track fuel efficiency, idle times, location and more, said Doug Oberhelman, chair-man and CEO of Caterpil-lar. Our existing solutions are effective, but its time

we take it to the next level. This relationship will com-bine Caterpillars world-class product engineering and design expertise with Uptakes software, appli-cation and data analytics expertise. As a result, well be able to transform the quintillion bytes of incom-ing data we see every day into useful information we feed back to our customers for on-the-spot decisions and planning purposes to further reduce owning and operating costs.

Oberhelman continued, Through this agreement, well build a platform to bring the next generation of our technology services and products to market sooner, and will act as a springboard for years of development after that. We want to empower our customers with the insight necessary to shift from a re-active repair after failure mode to a proactive repair before failure stance. The end result will be more ef-ficient operations and in-creased fleet availability for our customers. And the more our customers ma-chines and engines stay running, the more money they make.

Since 2014, Uptake has been developing loco-motive-related predictive diagnostics and fleet opti-mization solutions for Elec-tro-Motive Diesel (EMD), a subsidiary of Caterpillar. The early successes of the locomotive project led Cat-erpillar to expand its rela-tionship with Uptake into other industries Caterpillar serves. The Heavy Mechani-cal Foundation Program at UFV is a 36-week pro-gram aimed at students who want to enter the repair sector of the truck and equipment industry. Upon completion of the program, students will gain employment in the trade and begin their ap-prenticeship to becoming a mechanic. The pro-gram covers all aspects of the trade, beginning with safety and tools and working through electri-cal, brakes, hydraulics, powertrains undercar-riage and engines. In-

structor Jamie Ubell was at ConExpo in 2014 where he met with Gerry Mallory of Rototilt Cana-da. The relationship be-gan with Ubell learning about the Rototilt head and its abilities. A dona-tion was made to UFV on behalf of Gerry Mal-lory and Rototilt Canada to the HMF program at UFV of a complete Ro-totilt head and attach-ments. Some students in the HMF program at UFV, with the assistance of their instructors Glen Mackie and Jamie Ubell, installed the Rototilt head

on a Komatsu PC60-7 ex-cavator. Students Brad Anderson, Ross Garrioch and Ryley Fettes worked on the hydraulic and electrical installation of the Rototilt attachment which included new joy-stick control handles.

Upon completion of the installation, Paul Contant from Rototilt travelled to UFV from Ontario to inspect the in-stallation, and other than a few minor issues, the installation went very well, according to Paul. A demonstration was ar-ranged to show the Roto-tilt unit working with a bucket and grapple also provided by Rototilt and many of the students had a chance to operate it and recognize the prod-uct benefits. b

Atlas Copco recently introduced two new ram-mers, replacing the LT5004 and LT6004. These new rammers feature ultra-slim bodies, ideal for getting closer to structures and through narrow spaces. Like all Atlas Copco ram-mers, the new LT5005 and LT6005 provide high cen-trifugal force and speed for deep and effective compac-tion.

Atlas Copco featured the rammers during World of Concrete in Las Vegas and The Rental Show (ARA) in New Orleans.

At a mere 6 inches wide, the LT5005 is 3 inches smaller than its predecessor and the LT6005 is 9 inches wide 2 inches shorter than the previous model. These slim designs enable op-erators to easily compact cohesive and granular soils in confined spaces, such as small trenches, ditches, backfills and foundations. The smaller size also makes it easy

for operators to work close to walls or posts.

Atlas Copco designed the rammers with a rub-ber isolator on each side of the handle to absorb vi-brations that would other-wise be transmitted to the operator. This reduces the risk of injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and hand-arm vibration syndrome. The rammers also feature a single lifting point that allows users to easily move them from hard-to-reach spaces with large machinery, such as a crane.

The rammers are equipped with a Honda GXR120 engine that fea-tures an overhead cam-shaft and timing belt that operate with minimal noise. The oil alert LED indicator on the rammers notifies operators when the oil level is too low for proper engine lubrication. The rammers also are equipped with a throttle control with three fixed positions, stop, idle and

run. This feature elimi-nates the risk of leaving the throttle half open, which optimizes fuel use.

The slimmer profile and reduced weight truly improve the machines handling in tight spaces, allowing workers to get into areas they couldnt before, says Darrell Engle, product development spe-cialist.

Atlas Copco also de-signed the LT5005 and LT6005 for easy onsite maintenance. Each unit is equipped with a large air filter that users can change without tools. An upgraded air filter indicator is avail-able upon request. It is de-signed to alert the operator when a filter needs replac-ing. Users also can equip the units with hour meters to accurately track service intervals.

Operators can use Atlas Copcos optional trolley to quickly and safely lift and transport the rammers. During lifting and transpor-tation the rammers activate an automatic integral lock, which prevents excessive wear on the shock absorb-ers. Plus, the fuel tank fea-tures an improved seal to prevent fluids from leaking during transportation. b

Manitous MRT Series Privilege Plus Rotating Telescopic Handlers re-ceived a 2014 Leader-ship in Lifting Equipment and Access Platforms award, known as the LLEAP award, in the cat-egory of material han-dling from Lift and Ac-cess magazine.

The MRT Series Privi-lege Plus features impres-sive lift heights up to 80 feet 8.5 inches, 360 degree rotation with optimal vis-ibility, increased safety additions, and powerful diesel engines. The spa-cious, ergonomic cab is equipped with two elec-tro-hydraulic joysticks that control boom exten-sion, upper structure ro-tation, accessories, load lifting, and fork tilting. Armrests, steering wheel, and seat are fully adjust-able with an optional in-cline seat, reclining up to 13 degrees for operator comfort as the boom rises.

The MRT Series ma-chines provide triple

performance with tele-handler, winch, and plat-form work modes, reduc-ing the need for multiple machines on the jobsite. The MRT Series are also known for their many safety enhancements such as; adjustable stabilizers, the restricted working fea-ture that can limit certain lift heights and distances of operation in congested areas, and the unique E-RECO - Automatic At-tachment Recognition System - which automati-cally senses installed at-tachments and assigns the correct load chart as well as the appropriate safe op-eration zones.

The John Deere 550K, 650K and 700K Crawler Dozers not only meet Final Tier 4 emissions standards, but also incor-porate value-enhancing features such as Eco mode and an updated electro-hydraulic (EH) control system. The K-Series doz-ers provide contractors a Final Tier 4 product that affords higher produc-tivity, increased uptime and lower daily operating costs in earth moving and grading applications.

The 550K, 650K and 700K crawlers are built

on the success of the K-Series lineup and boast many new updated fea-tures like their 850K and 1050K cousins, said Mark Oliver, Crawler Dozers Product Mar-keting Manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. In addition to engine updates, John Deere added some new features customers will appreciate, including the electro-hydraulic system, Eco mode, blade shake, push button throttle, and courtesy lighting.

The 550K and 650K

incorporate a PowerTech 4.5L Final Tier 4 diesel en-gine with 92 hp and 104 hp respectively. The 700K boasts a PowerTech 6.8L Final Tier 4 diesel engine with 130 hp, a five horse-power increase over its IT4 predecessor.

All three models incor-porate John Deeres new Eco Mode feature that optimizes fuel economy while maintaining ground speed by automatically adjusting engine speed and transmission settings based on load. This new feature has the potential

to save customers up-wards of 20 percent in fuel with no loss in productivi-ty in many applications. A new push button throttle controls engine RPM, as opposed to a rotary dial. Speed increase and de-crease buttons will cause engine RPM to either go to wide open throttle or to low idle. Pushing and holding the button will allow the operator to find the desired speed range.

Operators dont have to worry about diesel par-ticulate filter (DPF) clean-ing as it still occurs auto-matically with no impact to machine operation. Extensive testing allowed John Deeres DPF to go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal. Additionally, all models feature excellent total fluid economy (die-sel fuel and DEF).

The new crawler mod-els continue to utilize hy-drostatic transmissions, a feature John Deere pio-neered in crawler dozers in North America in 1976. Updates were made to the electronic control system for improved response and controllability, in-creasing productivity and enhancing the operator experience. The motors

were also upgraded from a two-speed design to a variable displacement de-sign to optimize pushing power and drawbar pull.

Machine hydraulics were updated for im-proved performance and response, and offer new features when optional electro-hydraulic con-trols are ordered. A larger hydraulic pump is now available as standard equipment with the 550K and 650K for both me-chanical controls and the updated electro-hydraulic system. The EH system

on the 550K, 650K as well as the 700K is more responsive to operator in-puts and the machine will significantly grade better when equipped with a grade control system.

The new blade shake feature with EH controls helps make every operator more productive. At the push of a button, blade shake causes the blade to shake in a quick, repeated motion that helps shed material from the blade. This is particularly useful in sticky soil conditions

When the dozers are ordered with the new electro-hydraulic con-trols, they are grade con-trol ready to accept the system of the customers choice. John Deeres open-architecture de-sign lets customers eas-ily employ their favorite brand of grade-control system Trimble, Top-con, or Leica. For Topcon customers, all models can

be factory-installed with a Topcon 3D-MC2 grade control system for faster availability and the ability to finance the system with the dozer purchaser.

The 700K has two ad-ditional blade size options that were previously not available to help match machine performance and increase productiv-ity in grading/spreading applications. A new 126 inch blade is available in addition to the 120 inch blade on an XLT frame and a new 144 inch blade is available along with a

132 inch blade on an LGP frame.

To keep operators up and running, the 700K comes equipped with John Deeres exclusive V-Cool package. This sys-tem incorporates a cool on demand hydraulically driven fan that isolates coolers from dust and engine heat for increased efficiency and durability. An automatic hydraulic reversing fan is optional for all models. A ground level courtesy lighting switch was added near the battery disconnect switch in the left rear ser-vice door and provides light for safe machine en-try and egress.

Dominion Diamond Corporation (TSX: DDC, NYSE: DDC) (the Com-pany or Dominion) is pleased to release an up-dated reserves and resourc-es statement and an up-dated reserves-only life of mine plan for the Diavik Diamond Mine.

Unless otherwise speci-fied, all financial informa-tion is presented in Cana-dian dollars, on a 100% basis, and references to years are to calendar years. The Company has a 40% interest in the Diavik Dia-mond Mine.

The updated reserves and resources statement adds an additional 3.9 million tonnes containing approximately 13.0 mil-lion carats to the mineral reserves. As of December 31, 2014, the Diavik Dia-mond Mine had 18.1 mil-lion tonnes of proven and probable mineral reserves containing 53.3 mil-lion carats of diamonds (compared to 16.4 mil-lion tonnes of proven and

probable mineral reserves containing 46.8 million carats as of December 31, 2013).

At the A-21 pipe, 3.7 million tonnes containing 10 million carats has been promoted to proven reserve material. In addition, at the A-154 North pipe, 0.24 mil-lion tonnes of inferred re-sources at depth were pro-moted to probable mineral reserve status. Within the remaining reserve at the A-154 North pipe, 0.5 mil-lion tonnes were promoted from probable reserve to proven reserve, supported by sampling in the active mine which improved con-fidence for production fore-casting.

Routine mine sam-pling, delineation drilling and mine surveying have increased forecast grade to the existing mineral re-serves at the A-154 South, A-154 North and A-418 pipes.

The report summarizes the mineral reserves and mineral resources at the

Diavik Diamond Mine as at the end of December 31, 2014, expressed in millions of tonnes, carats per tonne, and millions of carats. The mineral reserves, set out in the report, accounts for all depletions due to pro-duction and sampling to the end of December 31, 2014, and the increase in the reserves as described above. Totals may not add up exactly due to rounding. The values shown are on a 100% basis for the Diavik Joint Venture.

The mineral reserves estimate reflects a bot-tom screen size of 1 mm. Stockpiles are minor run-of-mine stockpiles that are maintained at or near the process plant and are avail-able to maintain blending of kimberlite sources to the plant.

The mineral resources estimate reflects a bottom screen size of 1 mm. The mineral resources have reasonable potential to be mined but do not have mining losses and/or dilu-tion applied at this time, and as such they represent in situ values. Mineral re-sources that are not min-eral reserves do not have demonstrated economic

The following is a brief overview of the updated mine plan for the Diavik Diamond Mine, including current estimates for an-ticipated annual produc-tion by pipe, with associ-ated operating and capital costs through 2023, and is based on the current re-serves.The Diavik Diamond Mine - Production

The report shows the planned mining tonnage at the Diavik Diamond Mine for each ore body. The data is given on a cal-endar year basis, begin-ning as of calendar 2015. These figures do not in-clude rough diamond stocks held at the mine at the opening of each year, nor does the model take into account any rough diamond inventory avail-

able for sale that the Com-pany currently holds. The report shows the planned carats recovered for each ore body.

The total ore processed and carats recovered for Calendar 2015 include 22,000 tonnes of stockpile material containing an es-timated 68,000 carats.

In addition to the cur-rent reserves, there are 3.1 million tonnes of in-ferred resource, of which 2.4 million tonnes (in the aggregate) are distributed among the lower parts of each of A-154 South, A-418 and most signifi-cantly, A-154 North. The operator of the Diavik Di-amond Mine, Diavik Dia-mond Mines (2012) Inc. (DDMI), currently ex-pects to process this ma-terial as part of its mining operations as they reach the lower levels of each pipe. However, inferred mineral resources are considered too geologi-cally speculative to have the economic consider-ations applied to them that would enable them to be categorized as mineral reserves, and there is no certainty that they will be mined. They have there-fore not been included in

the above mine plan. Min-eral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated eco-nomic viability.

The Diavik process-ing plant has a potential capacity to process over

2 million tonnes a year. To supplement mined ore in calendar 2015, Diavik plans to continue process-ing old coarse ore rejects material (COR). The grade of this material is variable but is generally

high as shown by the re-sults from COR produc-tion from 2012, 2013 and 2014 contained in Table 5. Based on these his-torical recovery rates, the tonnage of this material which is planned to be

processed during calen-dar 2015 would have pro-duced 0.29 million carats from COR. There is no plan to process COR after calendar 2015.
