Supplemental Information 2: Visit and Data Capture Plan
Supplemental Information 3 – Dust collection method
The following Standard Operating Procedure was followed for all dust collections using a customized aluminum vacuum head, called a modified hognose, depicted here:
The vacuum head and all handling tools were cleaned and depyrogented before every home visit. The head was attached to a Sanitaire Canister Vacuum: Model S3680 for collection. Dust samples were collected in the two 40 μm Nylon mesh DUSTSTREAM® thimbles from Indoor Biotechnologies.
For room with carpet that has a total area greater than 2 square metres: • Do not walk on area(s) to be vacuumed • Tape off 4 square areas of 0.71 m x 0.71 m in separate locations (not in direct sunlight)
For room that has only hardwood/vinyl flooring: • Vacuum the whole area of flooring in the room in order to fill dust thimbles • Measure and record the exact area vacuumed on the dust collection form
For room with an area rug that has a total area less than 2 square metres: • If there is an area rug less than 2 square metres, vacuum entire rug and check thimble, then:
a) if there is enough dust in the thimble, document the exact area vacuumed on the dust collection form OR b) if there is not enough dust in the thimble, vacuum surrounding floor in the room and document the total exact area of the rug and flooring.
Supplemental Information 4 ‐Urine collection method at the 3‐month home visit
This information describes the details of the urine collection at 3‐months for CHILD participants from CHILD standard operating procedures. A sheet of Tegaderm film is placed into a clean diaper on the baby’s wetting area to prevent urine from being absorbed by the diaper. Three cotton pads placed on the top of the Tegaderm, are retrieved at the end of the visit, placed in a 20cc disposable syringe. The urine samples are then aliquoted into cryovials, transported back to the study center in a cooler and then stored in liquid nitrogen. Field blanks of doubly distilled water for every 20 samples are also obtained for QA/QC.
The following Standard Operating Procedure was followed for each collection:
